That's cool, because there's history to it. Schumi signing the door of a Ferrari is just as good as him signing a hat or shirt or even Helmet IMHO.

Gotta respectfully disagree there.... I would give my left nut to have him sign (and date!) my glovebox. How cool would that be!? He *did* do some development on it after all if you're looking for "history".

As to any "additional value", I doubt that, at least until after his lifetime.

As I said, I love the concept, just not the location.

    My 02c,
    Cheers,
    Ian

I'm having Pap sign the door of my 328, strictly for resale purposes. Maybe the visor would be a better move.

Exactly. I have a friend that had his early MGB signed by Don Hayter, the primary designer of the car, in the boot floor. He cleared over it and it's a nice touch.

Remove the door and have it for display at your office, home, bar... One can buy another and have installed in the car no problem.

A few years ago I saw a nice yellow Mc Laren F1 for sale. The seller was pleased to say that there was a Michael Schumacher signature inside on a door panel/or in the cockpit.

Since I really don't appreciate this coward cheater ( he is in my book one the the dirtiest F1 driver ever ) I would have asked to remove his signature if they wanted to make a deal with me.

I agree, this is a really bad place to put a signature, no matter who signed it.

Also kinda pointless since he never owned the car or had any association with McLaren

btw, The car has since been repainted and the signature is gone

Some years ago we had Sterling Moss sign our 300SL Gullwing dashboard after we loaned it to him (he drove it in a rally). The car is quite popular at the club gatherings and it doesnt detract from the value in my opinion.

I think if I knew that MS was going to sign something for me that had to do with a Ferrari, I would have had him sign the manual that came with the car. I guess if it was that MS just happen to be there and I asked him to sign something on the car, it would have been the dash or something similar to that inside the car.

I'd be worried that it would invite every jackass passing by the car to sign it with a Sharpie...

Pretty soon you've got an F430 that looks like the back page of a highschool yearbook

I could see maybe signing something on the interior but the outside of the door seems silly. Weather or not having him sign the car is a good idea or not it seems the interior would be a more durable place to sign at least.

If I bought that car, I'd hang the door up on the wall and put a new door in

Get them to sign the owner's manual

Since I have my 308 I have had Schumacher, Scaglietti, Phill Hill (who wrote. "To Tommy, I am glad you finally got your Ferrari", and Dan Gurney all sign it.

I'd rather just have his autograph (not on the lovely 430) :)
