Back in March when I bought my car, these rims where on it. My belief is that they are Speedline Alesio 3 piece. The rims are not my style and I would prefer to go back to stock. Wheel size is 225/40-18 in front and 265/40-18 in back. There was no information about these when I purchased the car. All four are in great shape. Can someone give me a value on these? Thanks, Jim. I like those wheels - always have - but am not into the chrome. I'd place these at about $1200-$1500 for wheels only, similar to a set of 355 stock wheels. Money is tight now so I am being a bit conservative.
Save yourself the hassle and have them refinished over the winter. They look to be nice wheels, just to dern bling. In black they would be sweet!
I agree completely. I think the finish of the wheel is more important than the design most of the time. To the OP, chrome just ruins it for me so I can understand why you would want to ditch those but refinishing could be a better alternative than selling.
I was told that these rims were offered as a factory option on the 355 (not chrome) but I haven't been able to confirm. I always liked these over the standard stock rims.
I have Speedline Alesio wheels on my 348, put there by either the previous or original owner. Look just like yours, but not chrome. I think it looks better than factory, but not as good as 355 or 360 wheels. Guess I am just postwhoring, as I have nothing good to add to the post other than I have the same problem...
I just purchased a set of these Speedline Alesio 3 pc wheels about 4 months ago for $1800 on Fchat. I am likely going to sell them for $1700 to another Fchat member if my wheels that I want come through from another Fchat member. Mine are not chrome though - they look like the picture Tom has in the previous post. That chrome is a little too blingy for me...just my 2c.
So, now my question is can you have the rims refinished from the chrome? And the finished product would be.....
I am sure that you can, and I would suppose the finished product would look like this... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Chrome wheels are extremely difficult to strip and paint, chrome is super hard and totally non porus, so without stripping the chrome off, there is a very good chance the paint will flake off. My GF has a 3 series bmw and was given a set of chrome M3 wheels to replace her stock ones, we inquired into the stripping the chrome and painting the wheels with my paint foreman who contacted the paint manufacturers, they said it could be done with an etch and a special primer but said it would probably still flake off. just my 2 cents
Yes they are...I have the same wheels on my 348.... I love them and would never sell them!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOL, I was begining to wonder if we missed a few posts in there some where in there! Those are nice wheels but clearly not the same.
The wheels are sweet, look to be worth saving. BUT, it looks like you will need to have the chrome stripped to do it right. The best way would probably be a plating shop that has tanks of muriatic acid. Of course, by the time you pull the tires and ship them and blah blah blah, you might find someone that wants the chrome ones (it does seem to be the thing...) It's hard to say. Good looking wheels, probably worth refinishing.
I would not bother trying to refinish the chrome, it is possible but will be somewhat problematic. You will need to separate the rim into it's 2 or 3 pieces then have the centers acid dipped and prepped, then painted, then have the rim reassembled and sealed by someone who knows what they are doing, then refit the tire. Too much hassle IMO, just sell them on for market value (looks like $1500+) and buy what you like the look of. Just my .02
