I was lucky, did find this envelope tucked away in the literature. It's plain white business size, back sealed with a sticker that says 'alarm info enclosed - to only be opened by retail purchaser'. Inside is the PIN code, printed on the inside of one of those carbon sheets that you need to tear open to see what was printed. Also has your VIN printed on it.

Well finally got my car to day. Got 1 Key, 1 black remote, 1 red remote. I believe I have the small paper with the 4 digit remote code. Haven't found anything in my paperwork that has a key cut code.

    1) Can the dealer cut a new key(keys) from my existing key without a key cut code?
    2) Can I program a new "black remote" myself with the red remote or does the dealer need to do this?

I hope I can offer something of help to others down the road but right now I'm a "big sponge" newbie

I bought a new blank on Ebay and had it cut at Ace hardware for $1.19. Of course the 612 key blank was several hundred. Made for some tense moments in the Ace hardware while the 90 year old key guy was cutting up my blank. Works perfect though.

Keys are easy to obtain---I used the place Daniel recommended in Australia---Send them a good pic of the key and they can cut it from that---works perfect--the remote is a different story, no you can not just program it..Buy an extra off Ebay and have it cloned..

So what's the deal with the red remote? After reading the manual I'm still confused. You are supposed to take your red remote to the dealer with the "special code card" and they can then program a new "black fob" for you? Why even have the red fob? This seems like a bunch of extra work for nothing. Oh, I get it - it's a Ferrari! Whatever!
    Guess I'm missing something here.

What I gather is the red is the master. The blacks are just clones of the red. W/O the red, you are screwed---if you have the red, one way or another extras can be made.but, I have been confused on this subject for some time. No clear understanding of what is needed or not needed to get it done. I have a red and one black. I bought an extra black fob off Ebay and am sending it to another Fchatter that has the ability to clone it. So when done I will have both blacks and the red that all work...

Hello guys, recently purchased a nero F355 spider. Everything is with the car with the exception of spare keys. I will receive 1 key with a black alarm remote. I do have the key card paper with the documents. I am not clear from the explanations given, can I get spares from the dealer without the red master? This all seems overly complicated but then again it is Ferrari!

Sorry, another dumb question. I read the owner's manual for the car but there does not appear to be any detailed information regarding the alarm operation, red and black remotes etc. Where is the factory information or did I miss something? Thanks.

When one of my techs has some time, I will have him troubleshoot and try to fix one of my black broken FOBs (I have one red and one black working FOB). I suspect it is either a bad RF transmitter or the EPROM is loosing its memory. I will report my findings once we figure it out. It is quite possible we may all have the same problem, especially since we are seeing more and more of these failing.

Hello No Doubt. I have recently purchased an ABS hydraulic module. This will solve my ABS alarm issue! Plenty of time to install with the early winter weather here in the northeast!

(Quote) Congratulations on the nero F355 spider...

Thank you gothspeed! The F355 is beautiful in nero!

So I assume you guys are saying the red and black modules for sale on ebay will not work unless programmed for your F355. The ad simply states worked on a F355 spider.

I called the closest Ferrari dealer to me and inquired about getting another Black Key fob programmed. From what I understand I should be able to take in my Red "programming Fob, my 4 digit Pin card and get one programmed. Not so. He chuckled and said they are only able to get the full set and start over (cost around $700.00). Also said the wait is 60 to 90 days! As for another key he said he can cut me a new one (plain metal) for a couple of bucks! I asked him then what is the purpose of supplying a programming fob with the car? Basically he said "Welcome to Ferrari ownership".

He also warned about the fobs on ebay as spending $150.00 to get a useless piece of plastic.

    For what it's worth!

Not useless, I bought 2 off Ebay, sent them to eric355 and he cloned them to match my existing black fobs. Now I have 3 blacks and 1 red fob and all work perfect....I bought one for $40 and the other for $55..

Ebay is your best bet. Make sure they are US spec remotes, the Euro ones work on a different frequency and will not work with US ones... PM usr eric355

Stingx- Here is the scoop on remotes. If you have the red master fob, you can buy extra black fobs on E-Bay and sometimes from Ricambi and use the red fob and PIN to reprogram the Alarm ECU to accept up to two new black fobs. The attachment here will explain it all. I just reprogrammed my 575's Alarm ECU to accept three new keys.
