These are their number of posts in clear decline since 2005: 20 in November?! For the whole month? Again I mean no disrespect but I always wanted to write to them that driving the car helsp keep it healthy so you don't have to fix it all the time! So as a humble Maserati enthusiast like many others I would welcome them here with open arms to speak of anything Khamsin in this thread and in other appropriate threads as needed.

I would of course love to hear from any current or past Khamsin owners.

    best regards,

To bring this back on track here are some wonderful Khamsin in the snow photos I received from B in Holland: the hint I dropped was picked up: thank you B.!

The car belonged to a friend of his, chassi number unknown, they used it quite a bit in amm seasons: well done!

    best regards,

If you're speaking of the Yahoo Maserati forum then yes it was assasinated several years ago but a few of us still hang around.
The MaseratiGTcars Yahoo group I don't know about. Ask Joe and Walter about that. The old Maserati Yahoo group still has a lot of good data in those posts and you have a database there. Here you can not.
That's one reason why the VLG Yahoo forum does pretty well.

That was my tag in Florida a few years ago, of course sometimes if someone else already has it the spelling has to be different such as on this one: AM120US1124 in California because the tag with the correct spelling is already taken: this begs the question: what car has the correct spelling tag in California: I am not aware of it...

Thank you for the info with regards to the red ring on the exhaust. I can believe the tape suggestion as I actually put some racing tape on them a few months ago and it has not burned somehow. I bought some of the Ansa stickers, so those will go on as well. As far as painting the tips red or orange, I agree with the comment about them turning black soon enough, but that will give me something else to compulsively clean!

Thank you for the pictures of 1124....In case no one noticed, the
rear bumbers were converted to Euro, but the front was not...

    What does this mean? Hybrid?

Sorry Marc...Have to give a friend grief whenever I can!!!

I spoke with a Pebble Beach winning restoration shop about this, they simply use Red Pinstripe available at any auto parts store. When it burns off, replace it. for less than $10.00 you get enough to do the car about 20 times.

Yes exactly! Isn't that one of the reasons we buy these sorts of cars? ;>)

The tape looks bad soon enough too unless it's a trailer queen.

Yes and it looks not that bad in black as the color seems to hide it. Can't hide that rear one though, no matter what the color.

Mike: why don't you paint your bumpers pink while you are at it: beter than any antitheft device I guarantee it!

Re the tape: can't believe they would put tape there and I do think some of you are masochists for worrying about that:)

    best regards,

    Marc

The correct term for a Maserati enthusiast is Maserchist.

Perhaps you guys can help me here!!

The other day I was looking under my K, and noticed the entire
transmission seemed to be soaked in some kind of fluid..Further
inspection revealed a very small diameter hose was disconnected..

I suspect this probably has to do with the LHM system...Not sure
this was even the problem but either way this may not be good...
That being said and based on the thinness of the tube (very
small diameter), I can't believe this tube can be of any use
anyway... I suspect it may be some kind of LHM overflow return
tube or something... Any ideas or experiences in this matter?

When I am back in TN and get a chance I will try to take a
    picture and post it....

Mike D. When you wiped down the tranny did the fluid appear green or greenish on your cloth or towel? Knowing the color would help to isolate the problem and confirm if it is from the LHM or not.

That's a start. I am sure others on this forum can add more....

I just got through with this problem in my car, if it's indeed the LHM return as it seems. I took the opportunity to get some custom steel braided replacements for the cloth/rubber hoses into and out of the cylinder. Also a good idea to do all the seals at this point. The failure mode for the clutch is interesting, FWIW-- it permanently engages. If you're good at RPM matching gears, it's not a problem :) Happy to point you to the guys who went through the 3 weeks of work to figure it out with me (and with help from MIE-- thanks guys!) and get it right.

I finally drove the Khamsin AM120.096 again today (after half a year of abstinence).

While I was gone the car was repainted in the original factory color (was repainted black in 1976 or so) and in my opinion looks a lot better than it did in black.
Especially with the interior, the blue just looks "royal" :D

I noticed a few things that had not been reassembled to my satisfaction after the paintjob, that I will have taken care of, while I'm here. Also, somehow they managed to break the door handle. This is something that got me quite upset, especially since they haven't tried to fix it since. I guess I'll have to take this matter into my hand as well.

The driving videos ("spirited driving" ;) ) will be made this weekend - I always do those on my own, because I don't want to end up having to talk to someone during the drive and "mess up" the audio. Pictures will follow too, once I have more time.

Here's a snapshot I took today - I just really love that color! I was speechless the first 20 minutes and was just staring at the car.

EDIT: (And yes, that is the sticker with italian instruction for the breaking-in period on the windshield)

    Great color Alex!

You will no doubt see it appear quite different depending on the degree of sunlight.

A question for the experts (perhaps it's been already answered elsewhere? If that's the case, I apologize for the repost):

Is it a terribly hard job to convert an automatic Khamsin to a much more appropriate manual 5-speed? In the past year I have come across some very cheap automatic Khamsins (seems much less desirable than the manual) and I know where to get a couple of very good Maserati 5-speed ZF's in Italy, probably the owner will sell them to me for scrap money (they come from dismantled old QP III's). Another obvious question is whether the 'box housing is always the same for all '70s V8 models, or whether there may be problems fitting it to the Khamsin.
