the 360 values are easily determined however the vintage cars value will depend on the provenance and the overall condition!..and like many of the other collector/dealers that post/lurk here we're also interested in helping you research/figure out exactly what you have.fortunately there are several ferrari models like yours going up for auction quite soon both here and overseas which may give a hint of where the values of these cars are going..lets all hope for the best!!

I live in Chicago but the cars are in a NYC suburb. I am out of the Country right now with my father but will be back in a few weeks and would be happy to have intros to some dealers. Thanks so much.

We do have an offer on the table through the machanic for the 275 and 330. His party has offered $850K for both and my mother is considering taking it. I posted for advice on the vintage section. Any opinions here?

Smart move :) Stocks are only worthless if you try to sell them right now, or the company goes under with no buyout.

I'm realizing this will have to wait until I get back to the States after talking to my sister tonight. I asked if she could take some pictures. I started listing what would be needed. When I got to the engine she asked me what one looked like and where she could find it. And I thought I was bad!

I was pointed to a Gooding auction where a 275 GTS is listed so saw the $400K-$500K price range. Are there other auctions to look at?

I'm also a bit confused whether in general, given equal condition, a 275 or 330 is more valuable. Any thoughts there?

I'm also looking at auction results from this summer. It seems like these cars are all down about 40%. Does that ring true to you guys?

Thank you all for the kind wishes and the help.

The best cars do not sell at auction in your market category. They sell by word of mouth and by broker.

So after about 4 or 5 years on this site and seeing, calling out BS...

Any one else at all smell anything fishy on this... maybe just a smig :)

1.) you dad is a car guy (with one hell of a nice collection...)
2.) He has his son (not a car guy) get on a site and try to gather information to sell some of them
3.) with about 3 of the cars you listed - your dad has some pretty good contacts not only to get these cars, but to maintain them
4.) you dad also has two modern F cars in the 360 and 599 - the first place you go is your dealer or broker that he has dealt with.

Ok young man - I fly between NYC and the midwest about every week. Am a collector and have had (and have) Lambos and Ferrari's. As a consultant on the site (I even have specialties in older F cars). I will fly out, give you an evaluation on all your cars - no charge at all.

    my email is [email protected]

Some of the F and L cars are on my web site which is the same as my email. Let me know if this is for real and you would like some help evaluating and taking some pics.

Or just have your sister - just give us a few shots of the outside of a few of them.... Lets start with the 275 GTS - remember don't pull shots from the web, we know many of these cars and that would end the fun much to quickly.

    Thanks for Playing

    Know what guys?

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

If his story is true, it's tragic and he deserves as much help as we can provide.

If it's not true, then it's equally sad, and he deserves as much ... well, we'll wait on that one.

Michael, if you're traveling with your Dad, it should be quite simple. I don't know anyone out there who wouldn't know the serial number of one or more of his collector cars, not the 360, too long and complicated, but the early cars have rather simple serial #'s. See if your Dad can come up with one or two for us, that would go a long way towards dispelling concerns about your legitimacy, and in some cases, give us enough information to know EXACTLY which car we're trying to help you value.

I'm a little bit shocked. Why on earth would anyone waste time trying to sell pretend cars?

I feel like my life story needs to be told to merit advice! But since you asked, my dad had an organ transplant 3 days ago and is in intensive care in a foreign country. He has been barely functioning for months and believe me, does not know any serial numbers at this point in time though he once knew every last detail and probably has one of the biggest car book collection on earth. It became clear this week that we needed to come up with more cash for treatments and the incredible cost of the special medical transportation he needs. So we made the decision to sell a few cars quickly. None off us knew how complex this would be and trust me, at this point my vote is to sell stocks because I can do that fast, no questions asked and not have to wonder who to trust or where I can get straight answers.

I do thank those who want to help and appreciate the time some of you took to write me with excellent advice.

And about the mechanic, I don't trust him for reasons I won't go into here because it's a small world.

    Uhhh.... Because its fun?

    Because it get people excited?
Because you get to play act like you are something you are not?

The list is endless and happens here a TON!

So yea, your post out of nowhere with a fortune in FCars you have to unload is a little if not a lot impressive... and a little unbelievable.

That you do not understand why we are cautious if not flat out calling BS on you is either absurd or you dont know much about the internet.

It's much harder to realize value from cars, especially the ones you are talking about. If I were you, I'd sell the stocks now and work on selling the cars over time. You can always buy the stocks back later, probably at a lower price in these markets.

The rest of the advice in this thread is good-- I'd take it, especially from Napolis.

I think it was mentioned earlier, but I'd also consider just contacting your father's dealer and seeing if he'll make an offer on the 360 and 599. The market for those is weak, but the cars will likely only decline in price further. The vintage cars might take some time to realize their value; so stocks could go next, then the vintage cars.

    in plain English.

We've had dozens of guys here over the year make claims similar to yours. Of those, perhaps two have been real, the rest, all fakes looking to impress us with what they "have in their collection." Or pehaps as is the case in another thread now, to scam us with a car they can, or will not prove they own, but claim to want to sell for $700K.

We're a sympathetic bunch with almost limitless resources to help with a problem, when it's real. But having been led down the primrose path on numerous occasions, we're careful not to get overly excited by a post like yours.

And, it's always a double edged sword. We hope against hope that your story is not true, because if it is true, your father's suffering at this time must be immense. But if true, we're ready to help.

There, in a nutshell, is our issue.

I'll take the one for the 360...! :)

I think just one serial number from one of the older cars would be sufficient enough to determine the legitimacy of all of this. And if your father was/is as in love with his cars as you stated early on in this thread, just one serial number wouldn't be too much for him to remember unless he has Alzheimer's disease.

In any case, I'm sorry about your father's failing health, and for the trouble it's causing you and your family. Can you tell us which cars were sold quickly and which cars are still available...?

Thanks for the explanation. This is clearly a world unto itself. For years my father has been telling us that throngs were beating a path to his garage with offers of huge sums for his prized cars. We naively believed we'd just take a few up on it. Bad timing I guess. We've decided there are easier ways to get more liquid in the short term and we'll look at the car situation when time allows. Thanks again for your time.

And I do want to clarify we first approached the dealer who was little help and offered $65K for the 360 which I thought was far from fair based on ebay sales.
