The level of inconsistency is what is giving it away...

1.) you mention in one of your first posts you took the 360 to the dealer. Why not ask him about the other cars (specifically the 599 since it is new).
2.) you mention that the 599 is the one your Dad drives most often. Well the 599 is a new car and the 360 has 21K miles - I am guessing your dad drove that most often
3.) You mention you don't think your Mom is up for taking pictures - but you will ask and about doing some showings. If your Dad and you are out of country - I am surprised that she is not with him in this most seriousness of times.
4.) You mention in your post above (this one gave you away first to me BTW) - the "mechanic" says these are all original owner cars - Not Likely that your dad had these from new.
5.) Your very first post says a 3 year old 360... As with Point 4 - you dad had all these from new... the last year for the 360 was 2004. So really couldn't be 3 years and is actually just 12 days from being 5 years. Since you are not a car guy you would be doing the straight math 2004 - 2008 = 4 years.
6.) Also you don't "trust" your dads mechanic. Ok gives us more, pretty sure he is not on the site, why and what is his name. Assuming your dad had these from new the Lusso and GTS has been restored at least once (you mentioned pristine condition) - so this mechanic was "trusted" with most likely several 100's of thousands of dollars to restore and maintain these cars - why not trust him if for nothing else rather than advice on who may want to buy these things "for a quick sale". That seems much more plausible then getting on a web site (as a new user) and asking for advice.

Here is the thing - I have had 4 PM's telling me that I may be a little harsh and that you "may" be for real. I do feel for you if you are going through a out of country procedure for your father. My mother-in-law has cancer and I know how a severe and terminal disease effects a family. Not to mention the lengths you will go to make them better..

We get dozens and dozens of people saying the things like your saying each year. Different stories, some posing as buyers, some as sellers, etc.

If you are real - you can clean this up for us in about 2 minutes. Give any one of us the name of the Mechanic (we will not call - just verify). There are not too many skilled mechanics for the older F-cars (one of us probably knows him).

or give a pic - any car at all real easy.

or PM one of the mods your phone number and they can talk to you in person for a few minutes to verify.

With anyone of these steps you can put this to bed. Not to mention you have hundreds of potential buyers here, you have people in the business, consultants that know more about these cars than nearly anywhere - all in one place. So we can be a wealth of information - not to mention several of us may even buy one of the cars at a "fair" price.

Richard, don't try to steal my thunder bro. I asked for pics on page 1 and thought for sure that someone would call bs long before that when the "collection" got bigger by the post. With a collection like that someone would surely know him.

The site is a tremendous resource for "real" Ferrari lovers (and other exotics)....it is not to be trifled with.
Michael...please stop...none of us believe a word of this.

Hey Mike, let's put an end to this. You stated that the cars were in a NYC suburb, I asked you a location: no response. There is only one location in a NYC suburb that anyone would keep this collection: CCG in bedford. If this is the location, feel free to PM me either way and I can then verify it for everybody as I have cars there. Then we can put an end to the speculation.

    Fair enough?

Michael, Michael, Michael...lot of inconsistencies here.

*If you know nothing about cars, how is it you have some record of the older F-car model names and miles, but no other info? Surely you wrote that info but nothing else about them? I imagine a collector such as your father would have a mountain of records on these cars? How in the world did you plan on selling them without model years, option descriptions/color schemes and VINs and SNs???

*His newest car is the 360, but then a post later he also owns a 599? So which is it? And why did you not include the 599 and 330 in with the first listing?

**To Richard -- there was a small production of MY 2005 360s. So when he says a 3-year old 360, I assume he meant an '05. They are rare as the F430 was being started up in production but they do exist and in fact I know someone that owns an '05 360 F1 Spider.

    Back to Michael...

    * So if he has been incapicitated for months, then how was he able to advise you, as you said, that 65k was not enough of a sum for the 360? Then you later say, you felt that it wasn't from looking at 360s on Ebay. Which was it?

*The mechanic was like a member of the family and you're reaching out to him as you're posting on helping liquidate the collection and he is even going so far as to put a small package together on your behalf to give you an $850,000 offer on 2 of the older F-cars and then a day later you say you don't trust him at all because the F-car world is a small world? Am I missing some major component here?

Additionally, I happen to think Richard's offer was extremely kind and potentially beneficial for you. Why aren't you thanking him and taking him up on his free of charge offer?

I think if you were able to fill in some of these considerable gaps in logic and sequence, many of us would feel alleviated.

    Josh

I believe only early MY05 360's were spiders - coupes last year was 2004 (as far as I know). This was due to the lag between the coupe release and spider for the F430...

But you got my point of inconsistencies...

I really do mean and would uphold my offer. I am in NYC frequently and would be more than happy to help with getting some details and rounding up some brokers, etc.

However you will not hear from MichaelC (if ever again). He is in School right now (probably 14 years old or so), and most chat sites are banned at many schools/shared PC's. So if we do hear from him - it will be after 3:30 or so. Like this morning just before school...

It looks like we have a new trend in Ferrari sales that we all need to get acquainted with. Apparently the "new" method is to try to sell cars without giving any information out like pictures, serial numbers. location etc. I can understand that concept with the huge amount of Ferrari theft we see here every year. But seriously, I would suggest selling the pretend stocks and bonds first. Its always better to hang onto your pretend collector cars until the bitter end.

A few collaborations with previous posts. The Mechanic of a collection like this would be very well known in Ferrari circles. So would the owner. So I too call BS.

Well, I checked with my facility and no cars or one collection that he mentioned is held at CCG. Maybe it's his Matchbox collection at Grandma's house?

If I am so smart, I should be richer! :D

So we cannot cross check this to any known owner? FCA guy???

A real shame if this is a spoof, but I am not as sceptical as some of you, no one in my family will give a crap about my cars and books, (and racing trophies!) if I was at Death's door....:(

Amanda has even clarified she wants the TransAm over the "money pit Ferraris"....LOL!

    You're a good guy BigTex.

Obviously we don't want to waste the time of numerous users helping a teen that is just out for some misguided laughs.

At the same time, we don't want to drive away a person who is in the middle of a very stressful situation looking for help about something they have little knowledge.

IMO, this is still possibly the latter and it is too soon to chalk this up as another troll. "Trust but verify" seems like good advice in many parts of life these days.
