search isn't doing it for me.....can someone point me to some pix of '50's race/street cars showing riveted gas tanks? I seem to recall a 166M? showing the riveted tank but can't confirm it or find it....
need to see images to create a new one.....
AND NO ITS NOT FOR A REPLICA/RECREATION/TRIBUTE CAR/WHATEVER!!!
It's for a special boat under restoration.

    TIA,
    Tritone

here's an original from a 1955 500 Mondial. The seams are a sandwich of an outer and inner strip over the tank sections with a thin lead strip in the middle

Picture taken at the Ferrari Racing Days at the Nürburgring this year, unfortunately I don't exactly remember which car it was.

Seriously, thanks to all who have posted images! I know just what to do now, and have even found the first suspect/possible fabricator....
When they are done - I will post them here for all to see.

    Thx'

(I agree Doug, they are works of art. Hard for modern day plastic structures to stir the soul quite like these examples of craftsmanship. 'Specially that last one; thx Florian.)

    James,
Not far from you in Maple Valley, WA State is the ex-curator of The Hart Collection (275GTB, Daytona, 250 Fantuzzi, plus others) and owner of Horizon Racing, Tony Garmey. He hand crafted this period correct rivetted fuel tank for the Devon racer that was missing when found. This car has been a Pebble Beach invitee/contender so he had to ensure it was absolutely period correct and as he fabricated it he visited local major vintage collections (John Shirley, etc) to compare against originals.

that 275 trunk is all wrong, but i must admit diamond quilted leather and a riveted trunk are a VERY sexy look

must agree with you! I could live in that trunk.
I seem to recall another thread on that car talking about "egregious over-restoration" or such.......
    nonetheless.....
