Do you have any shots of the mid-engine Tipo 63 Maserati? Usually white with blue striping.

1958 Elkhart Lakes June Sprints: #15 was Johnson but Quackenbush was in #17 not #71.
Neither was at Meadowdale. Info from my 1958 SCCA page:

    http://www.ferrariexperts.com/SCCA%20results%201958.htm

    Keep trying!

Do you have that first photo in a larger resolution? I'm sure the current owner would like to see it.

Thanks for posting this! My program does not show Quackenbush so maybe he was a late entry.
I have added your info to my page and am very glad to finally find out about #71!!!

Actually someone pointed out that Meadowdale would not have had hay bales
and the pictures look to be from an airport course. I agree about #71 but not
the location of the race. What do you think??

The one photo of TR #15 shows planes in the background which could not have been at Meadowdale.
Also, the photos at the above web site don't show # 71 and #15...

You can just see the #15 exiting the #4 photo from 1958 on the Meadowdale site.

I agree that the photo on your site showing #15 with planes in the background cannot be Meadowdale.

    Cliff-

since Jim Johnston, the driver of the #15 car lived in Cincinnati and seemed to mostly race in the midwest, I would see if you have any information on 1958 races from Smartt Field Missouri or Lawrenceville, Illinois. Both were airport race tracks. I have found in Joel Finn's Testa Rossa book a mention that after acquiring his car, chassis 0720 from Chinetti in February 1958, Johnston drove "in a number of the National races, where points could be gained, and additionally ran the car at numerous regional events".
