Pardon the judgmental rant but this guy may be the single most pathetic human being I've heard of. No one buys this much crap, squandering the finite resources of his people's land on whims, without trying to cover up some seriously deep seeded pathos. Honestly, to me this kind of consumption resembles the nightmare of addiction more than the stuff of dreams.

Is it me or does anyone else see this kind of behavior as symptomatic of disorder or illness?!

I don't agree with you at all.

    1. He takes care of 'his' people (the people of Brunei) very well according to numerous published articles.
    2. Its his money, he can do whatever he wants with it... Hell if I had that kind of money, I cannot say I would do much different.

He is probably living out his childhood dreams, (atleast mine).

Would it make you feel better if he drove around in a Corolla and bought up real-estate instead?

C'Mon, Your trying to tell me that 6000 autos is not excessive. He really needs 360+ Ferrari's too huh? Did he really earn any of his wealth? All the Sultan is an old money playboy, the people I tend to respect the least...

I largely agree with you, and I am a car enthusiast and enjoy material successes.

Indeed, they are not the first or last wealthy family to exhibit gratuitous consumption. That has existed for centuries. Outrageous material spectacle is nothing new. The Brunei family happens to like cars.

Even though the "Sultan of Brunei" represents, perhaps, the ultimate exotic car lover's fantasy made real ---what embodies the sin, to me, are the hundreds of cars apparently left to wither and rot, sitting unused for years for nobody to appreciate or enjoy.

It would seem to me these cars could be put to better use by either auctioning them off and giving the proceeds to the underprivileged (as clearly the money isn't needed by the Sultan's family as the cars are forgotten about and left to decay), or at least given away as gifts. Otherwise it's truly a sin.

To have them to just rot neglected for years... I don't see the point in that. And then to continue to amass more and more hoards of cars... Yes, it's their money and they can do as they wish, but it seems a symptom of obsessive/compulsive disorder and gluttony. And in their case they have the money and means to manifest this disease by amassing exotic cars.

Believe me, I'm every bit an individualist and free-market capitalist/libertarian. I'm not suggesting anyone give up material wealth or fun. But it just seems to me that there would come a point in one's life when, given such lavish excesses, you would come to realize how vainglorious and unnecessary most of it is and be happy with what you already have.

Clearly, at this level, you don't even need to concern about money itself anymore if you can purchase 6 examples of every car you'd ever want, in virtual perpetuity. Given that, if you truly are not going to possibly drive them all or enjoy them, or even have others share in it --leaving many to simply decay to the point of them being undrivable--- then that is quite pathetic a statement to make about oneself. It's more a legacy of shame inasmuch as it is one of awe. It is awesome. But is is sick.

Anyway, enough of that. Back to enjoying the show..... it certainly is that.

I love cars but wouldn't it be so much better to be remembered for donating the money that cured AIDS or cancer instead of pissing away a fantastic car collection.

Rotting away in hell (or some desert) right along with their cars would be a fitting end to such trash.

Sorry been thinking this for some time and just had to vent it somewhere. Apologies if this is a duplicate of someone else's previously stated sentiments.

The 6000 cars were not owned by the Sultan, they were actually owned by his brother Prince Jefri who is now in exile in London.
I know because i worked there.

Two for the price of one.
Well, not exactly, but it sounds good :p Talacrest acquired two well known Pininfarina Specials, the totally rebuilt 1992 F40 #091283 and the 1996 F50 #102852. Interesting to know is that the F40 has covered 8000 kms so far and the F50 less than 2000 miles.
It's remarkable that the F40 is in this package deal, because last time I posted about this car it was confirmed to me that the F40 was sold in april 2008 by Talacrest...
Last time the F50 was for sale it was a no-sell at the 2nd Coys auction it saw in it's existance.

11 new pics of the F50 can be found on Ferrari page #1: http://www.**************/gallery/129612/976/6.html
And 9 new pictures of the F40 can be found on the ex-Brunei spec page: http://www.**************/gallery/129612/976/23.html

    BMW Italdesign Nazca M12 - 16 pictures
For a little information on the M12 concept check this page: http://www.**************/cars/826.html
I assume this blue M12 is 003/ID from 1993. The specs of this car are a little different from the first concept. The 5,7 litre V12 by Alpina delivers 350 bhp @ 5200 rpm and 346.7 LB-FT @ 4000 rpm. The curb weight is a 1000 KG and it has a 5 speed manual.
These pictures were taken during Hong Seh's 40th anniversary celebrations.

    Cizeta V16T - 21 pictures
Four pictures of the 2nd Pininfarina converted V16T, wich is still uncompleted and is currently @ VDV.

And the rest of the pictures are of the 2nd to last delivered Cizeta, the 1993-ish blue one. First up is a picture taken during a car salon, but I'm not sure wich one. Perhaps Geneva? The other pictures were taken during Hong Seh's 40th anniversary celebrations.

Hi guys this thread is one of the most interesting pieces of history ever. I come to fchat every day and never post just lurking really but this thread has me floored. I have been reading this thread for the last few hours and am astonished. I don't even know where to begin. First off a huge thanks to all of you guys for all the info posted. I am amazed that such a collection could even exist but i guess with enough money anything is possible. Thousands of cars most of which never driven and left to rot is such a waste. Basman007, Peloton25, SefacHotRodder, Citronella, and many others of people that have contributed seem to have some great stories and memories of the Brunei Royal Family garages. Most of which i would kill to have been apart of. I guess im just a car geek and am very fortunate to live in south Florida and see super cars everyday. This is a whole new level of automobile history seeing as most of these cars "never existed" and i will never see. Brunei Royal Family would commission all the major car manufactures to build them station wagons, 4 doors, Suvs, and bat mobiles (WTF) and hide them from the public is (for lack of a better word) retarded !! In my lifetime my goal is to own one ferrari or lambo and drive the wheels off but 2,000 + is ............i dont know ??? The history of these cars were a secret for so many years it is a real shame. Its nice to see all the info out in the open and all the auctions for the cars to have a second chance. I wanted to see the pictures of the cars for like 2 hours but the link to Basman007 link is all ******** . Then i finally found out the site and it has like 30 pages worth of info . YAY :) This is better than all my Xmas gifts. There is a lot more i want to say and have still so many questions i want to ask but ill spare all of you and sit back and enjoy hearing the stories and seeing the pics. Anyway thanks again for making this 21 year old car nuts day ! Merry Xmas and happy new year .....or whatever holiday you celebrate ;-). i should start posting more i suppose .....that will be my news years resolution! Thanks again !!

Can we all appeal to have śupercars.net unbanned from the system?

Banning other forum systems for no reason other than they exist is hostile. It's also contrary to the ethos of the internet.
