The Maserati 150S with racing nunber #47 is #1659 with Lloyd Ruby/Robert Burn who dnfed with a broken valve. KEEP THEM COMING! THE PICTURES ARE GREAT! Regards Wolfi
Here are the last three (I think). I've gone through a couple of thousand slides to come up with these. It's been very fun hunting for me! Thanks to all who have looked! Cheers, -cliff http://www.ferrariexperts.com/etceterini%20period%20race%20car%20photos.htm Image Unavailable, Please Login
1958 Elkhart Lakes June Sprints: #15 was Johnson but Quackenbush was in #17 not #71. Neither was at Meadowdale. Info from my 1958 SCCA page: http://www.ferrariexperts.com/SCCA%20results%201958.htm Keep trying!
Do you have that first photo in a larger resolution? I'm sure the current owner would like to see it.
I'm happy to send larger photos to any of the current owners of these cars. They can contact me at: [email protected]
Thanks for posting this! My program does not show Quackenbush so maybe he was a late entry. I have added your info to my page and am very glad to finally find out about #71!!!
Actually someone pointed out that Meadowdale would not have had hay bales and the pictures look to be from an airport course. I agree about #71 but not the location of the race. What do you think??
I just got some photos/slides from 1953 Pebble Beach taken by John Ritchey. No Ferraris but did you know that Pete Lovely raced a 750cc Giaur back then? Take a look at all of them which are listed after Jack Reuter's photos: http://www.ferrariexperts.com/etceterini%20period%20race%20car%20photos.htm -cliff reuter Image Unavailable, Please Login
Meadowdale did have hay bales, as well as half-buried tires, barriers and such. There are a lot of photos from the 1958 race (and other years) here: http://miroldpix1.homestead.com/58oldpix.html
The one photo of TR #15 shows planes in the background which could not have been at Meadowdale. Also, the photos at the above web site don't show # 71 and #15...
You can just see the #15 exiting the #4 photo from 1958 on the Meadowdale site. I agree that the photo on your site showing #15 with planes in the background cannot be Meadowdale.
Cliff- since Jim Johnston, the driver of the #15 car lived in Cincinnati and seemed to mostly race in the midwest, I would see if you have any information on 1958 races from Smartt Field Missouri or Lawrenceville, Illinois. Both were airport race tracks. I have found in Joel Finn's Testa Rossa book a mention that after acquiring his car, chassis 0720 from Chinetti in February 1958, Johnston drove "in a number of the National races, where points could be gained, and additionally ran the car at numerous regional events".
1958 april ? Lawrenceville, (race 1): James Johnston/250 Testa Rossa 0720TR n°15 1er Lawrenceville, (race 2): James Johnston/250 Testa Rossa 0720TR n°15 1er Louisville, Kentucky (race 1): James or Jim Johnston/250 Testa Rossa 0720TR n°15 2em class 1er Louisville, Kentucky (race 2): James or Jim Johnston/250 Testa Rossa 0720TR n°15 2em class 1er Marlboro, Maryland: James or Jim Johnston/250 Testa Rossa 0720TR n°15 6em class 1er is exactly?
