I have a few raybans, a pair of serengetis and persol.

The best sunglasses without any doubt are persol. high quality, timeless style and you look as well as feel like steve mcqueen whenever you wear them.

    Oliver Peoples. Love 'em.

Although if I could just toss money around like a rockstar, I tried on some Cartiers the other day which had this sort of dull-mirrored look in the lenses, and they were just unbelievable. Totally, totally off the hook. Like 1400 bucks or something, though.

My Oliver Peoples are excellent for beach and snow, but I find the polarization a bit too much for driving (tinted windows, etc.). For that I love my Pradas (which are like Ari Gold's, but not the ones in the "Against All Odds" homage scene):

I love my Oliver Peoples. I paid around $500 for them, and then found the exact same pair on ebay for $159.

    Lesson learned!

I wouldn't be so sure. They had the VFX logo on the lenses. Either way, they looked real enough to save $350

I've owned Ray Bans, Vuarnet, Maui Jim, Oakley and numerous other $200+ sunglasses over the decades. But, the best pair I have every owned cost $10 at a motorcycle swap meet. Any more spent is for fashion, not UV protection. http://clarkhoward.com/clarkmedia/tv/sunglasses.html

There is more to consider than just UV protection. For me, comfort and clarity are more important than fashion or price.

I have found Revo sunglasses to be the best fit for me.

    I currently own:

Oakley, Persol, Ray Ban, Maui Jim, and Mosley Tribes.

The Mosley Tribes stand head and shoulders above the rest. Fashionable but subdued square aviators that just work. I love them. I can wear them with a suit or at the beach.

In the past I would only consider sunglasses with polarized lenses. But now I am staying away from polarized lenses because they black out all the new LED readouts: GPS, PHONE, even the radio and clock on my Ferrari. So I am looking for a new pair and will keep my MJs and RBs for walking the beach. I love looking at the ocean through polarization.

I came to the same realization when I was trying to fly glass cockpit aircraft. I would highly recommend serengetti.

    Persols...

Made well, always in style, and you don't see 1,000 other people wearing the same ones.

Also they're available in sizes so you can get a better fit.

    Oakley with the polarized lenses...

Now beware when wearing polarized lenses... they seem to distort certain things. For example, for the longest time I would see cars with distortion marks in the paint. I realised it was my polarized lenses distorting the wrap material. Take the glasses off, and the car looks normal. HA HA!

I just picked up the Oakley Ducati Gascans...so far so good. Didn't go polarized since they weren't instock. Apparently swapping out the lenses is no big deal.

The other day I picked up a pair of Persol 2903s in black with gray lenses. Great glasses!
