Further to the other thread, I'm not sure wether to have the stripes painted on. Nadia (the wife) says no stripe. I like the stripe and think it looks cool and gives the car more of an impact which I like. However, the cars going to look better than it came out of the factory thanks to Al and hence am having second thoughts. I'm not worried about resale and I don't want to put a vinyl stripe on either. So it's a full stripe along teh whole of the top of the car or nothing. Comparison pics below. Your thoughts please.... If you are not worried about re-sale, do whatever you like best! I kind of like the stripe, makes your car stand out.
Sy, your car will look stunning either way you go with it. I will say, however, I'm not usually a stripe kind of guy, but it really is unique on your car. Anyone who sees a picture of your car knows it is your car (with the stripe). I'm also of the cloth where if the wife aint happy, aint nobody happy so you have to consider that. Good luck!
I think adding the strip to a 348 will be a passing fancy, and as Ferrari comes out with other, newer cosmetic touches, it will further date the 348. I say keep the classic good looks the car already has, not try and make it something it is not. But with that said, it's your car, so do what pleases you.
Yes.......No........Yes.........No.........Yes..........No,well maybe?..........Do what makes you happy Sy!!!!!!!!!!
Sy this thread isn't helping you at all talk about dead even. My vote stripe it baby it makes the car go faster..
No way man. Fun to do for a while like you've done, but the 348's lines don't need the stripes. You have clearly proven your individuality to the upper-echelon F owners by choosing a 348 as your baby to restore and cherish, when you can obviously afford one of the many more modern and more expensive Ferraris. Don't do it, the paint you have hired is beyond spectacular, if you must have the stripes put the stickers on again and if you really have a bug up your arse about them being flush then get it done proper. (The decals you had before looked to be of exquisite quality, BTW) You never know, in 2 years you might lose interest in the 348 and want to sell for a different Ferrari. I know it seems impossible now, but it does happen. Look at it this way, for a while you drove a great 348, though it needed some minor cosmetic work, probably all the while thinking "Soon I'll get her resprayed and fully sorted." Well, that day is almost here, and what will happen next? After you tire of driving a perfect 348, I'll bet dollars to donuts (American saying, sorry) after two years you'll be looking at 360's or 430's (or 599's). Alternatively, if you have real taste AND a hairdryer, maybe a 355. Not trying to tell you what to do, it's your paint, just think about the future. Sorry if I offended in any way, I'm just a punk a$$ kid in the US who thinks the stripes need to go.
Sy: While I really like the way your original stripe tapered to a point (imparting a sense of motion). However, IMHO, I would leave the stripe off this time. As you are getting a "show quality" paint job, I would live with it a while (as the PP advised) and let the initial paint job "cure". If you still desire a stripe, then have them shoot it on at a later date. I personally feel that that your Nero 348 is the best color for that car and a stripe tends to break-up the flowing lines of the car. But as everyone has said, it is YOUR car, do what makes YOU happy.
I agree that your car is stunning w/o the stripe. Probably the best looking 348 in pics. I have ever seen!
Thanks everyone. I agree with every thing you guys have said, which is the reason I can't make up my mind. Yesterday I decided not to have the stripe. This morning I changed my mind and now after reading this thread I'm still not sure what to do. I think Cuneo has hit it on the head though. I've got 3 weeks to decide. To add to teh confusion, I'm also tempted to change the shade of mettalic black. In sunlight, the car looks kind of grey'ish. I've been told that Merceded do a really good mettalic black which looks like flatblack from 10 feet.
Just been browsing around and found these pictures. Red edged stripe....??? With the aston martin red fleck paint!!! aaaarghhhhh!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sy, Now, I REALLY like that.... the red makes all the difference in the world. I liked your stripe before, but I think it would be great, even better, with the red edges... Just my two cents... Mike in Kuwait
Me too. It contrasts nicely with the red calipers, red harness and red stripe on the steering wheel. Not sure if I'm brave enough to do it though. But if I decide to put a stripe on, I may do it in those colours.
