Michael Schumacher owner a 96 F355. In addition to widening the rear track by 4 inches, the engine was supposed to have some mods including special cams. Does anyone know what the timing was? Are there hotter cams available, or do you have to regrind the stockies?

    Thanks,

    MrF40

There has been posts on this before. But know one really knows what is going on with the car's engine or the cams.

I think it could rev to 10,000rpm.

The cars track was not widened by 4 inches. It may have been by 1cm on each side or something, that was all, and only on the rear. It was all described in Forza magazine a year or so ago. If the track was widened 2 inches on each side, the rear wheels would be sticky way out from the body work, and from the photos in Forza, it had stock body work. All the details are sketchy, no one but the factory knows exactly what was done to the engine, but the 'claim' is it had different profile cams, and the rev limit was raised.

I think I recall from that Forza story talk of a 10k rpm limit with different cams, not sure of any other details...

Rear track widened 4 centimeters (not inches!)

No details on the engine mods. So are there any factory specs out there on a streetable performance upgrade for the F355?

    Thanks,

    MrF40

From what I have read in various publications the engine received an ECU re-mapping and slightly different cam profiles. Interestingly, according to Ferrari sources, the stock F355 engine hydraulic lifters/tappets can remain stable up to 10K. The car's suspension was basically the precursor for the upcoming Fiorano Handling Package (in Europe) and the F355 Fiorano (in the US), with re-mapped shock ECU, thicker/stiffer sway bars, Challenge-type steering rack and PS pump, slightly wider track, lowered ride height, etc. The interior received some carbon fiber, a factory roll bar and a "special" leather package. That's about it.
