Guys: I haven't seen the horseshoes that some are selling, does anyone have experience with this vendor? Can you see the horseshoes from the front of the car? Does anyone have a picture of them installed? I think this product is kind of a waste. It will only protect the slightest rubs and scuffs. Hitting your spoiler in motion from a road divit or driveway - horse shoe or not your getting damage to both the product and your spoiler. Most spoiler breakage damage is head on (on the lower area) not underneath. The spoiler will crack and break regardless. Just my opnion. R
I would tend to agree, with respect to the 348. While the product sold on eBay may provide some degree of protection, it is not going to reinforce the front spoiler from frontal impact (e.g., parking markers, curbs, etc), as the previous poster noted. As 285Ferrari stated, the Hill Engineering "skid plates" (which mount around and under the spoiler lip) from Ricambi would be a better choice, as they provide much more protection. They are basically used as sacrificial plates. IMO, I think the polyethylene (plastic) skid plates are better than the aluminum, as their inherent slippery nature will sometimes allow the spoiler to "ride-over" the speed bump, driveway hump, etc. Also, if you do some searching, there have been several Threads on others methods of reinforcing the 348 front spoiler using fiberglass. In sum, the best and only way to prevent damage is to get to know your car's clearance - it's all part of the fun of Ferrari ownership. On another note, I would highly recommend that you apply at least one layer of the 3M protective film made especially for lights to your front fog lamps, as they are basically an unavailable part.
I cant speak for the set in question but I do have a set of the Hill polyurethane ones but havent installed them yet but can tell you that from my initial sizing up-they will fit perfectly and will cover up any scratches that are already there. the material is much like a cutting board and designed to absorb scratches and scrapes.. I dont know what other people think these are designed for other than just that- these are not bumper/spoiler shields and wont protect from direct hits to the bumper- they only protect the paint. I will post up pics once I get them installed. -T
