Correct. That is a K40 hidden laser/radar front and rear volume knob. It also controls "city"/"highway". Have identical knob on my F355.

No silly....hidden antennae and nothing in the windshield. Around here, radar detectors are illegal in DC and Virginia and get confiscated if pulled over. They certainly can't confiscate a built in unit, and not likely the police would even know you have one. Of course if it works you won't get caught speeding , but I've been pulled over twice for no front plate!!!

Toggie, thank you for the VIN - and again, congratulations. The Maranello is amazing, you're certain to enjoy it for years and years. So what of the F430...? Still keeping it...? I think it's funny that your wife was tougher than the salesman. But just remember, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. :)

Yes, my black/tan 2006 F430 stays in the family. But, bad news for my 1970 Jaguar E-Type FHC. It has been "voted off the island" and has to give up its garage space for the new 550 moving in. I've arranged to sell it through a local British repair garage place on consignment. I love my E-Type but it is somewhat the same type of car as the 550, that is, a front engine coupe with a stick shift. Someone will be getting a nice Series II E-Type coupe for a good price, given the recent downturn in the economy.
Pics of my E-Type are in this post: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137243155&postcount=1
I'll place an ad in FerrariAds.com in the "Other Cars" section early next week once the Jag has been relocated over at the selling repair garage/dealer.

Double congrats. Good trade up, if you ask me.

Love the 550 in TdF/Tan (or cuoio, I go back and forth)

    Enjoy.

blah. blah. blah. looks like you have a nice piece of land there. time for the "super garage" build thread. no need to sell it in this crappy market.

My neighbors wouldn't like me building a second extra garage. :)
I already added a 5-car detached garage to a house with a 3-car garage on it.
And, I put in a car lift and store 2 cars in one of the garage slots.
So, I'm thinking my only remaining option if I were to keep the Jaguar is to rent storage space elsewhere. Decided not to do that.

I took the Jag to the consignment place today. And I posted the ad in FerrariAds.com in the "Other Car" section.
    Link is here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/ferrariads/showproduct.php?product=2437
Let me know if there is anything else I should add to the text of the ad.
I maxed out on the number of pics I could upload for it. Thanks.

That is a nice E-Type. Good luck with the sale.

As nice as it is though, for a little more cash, that is a serious upgrade!!

    Bravo!!!

I used to laugh before and after entering my Jag. I knew I would likely be hurt in any accident. It was always all smiles during and after the drive though.

Check the A/C system. 550s are know to leak condensate into the passenger footwell.

Thanks for the advice, but the stain turned out not to be a hard-to-get-out stain at all. The blackish coloration on that part of the carpet was due to the foot panel being swung open & shut a few times during a recent service at the dealership. No attempt to clean it had been attempted yet but it should come right out. The black coloration was caused by the electrical harness rubbing against the carpeting when the panel swung open. On the back of the panel, on the extreme left side of it, there is a bundle of wires held together by black tape/connector conduit. It is this black tape like substance that pokes out to the left edge of the panel that rubs against the tan carpeting. So, it is more black dust than anything else. Just a quick rub with the hand lightened the severity of the "stain". So, I'm pretty sure standard car carpeting cleaner will make it look good again.

I was surprised how nice the car was when I actually saw it in person. Several of the things I saw in the hi-res pictures that were emailed to me in advance turned out to be much better than I first feared. The "stain" being one of them. Another was the rubber gasket around the headlights when the hood is open. In the hi-res pictures they looked heavily worn and somewhat rotted, but in person, they were fine. The hi-res pics exaggerated the pores in the rubber and the dust on them. Same thing with the wheels. I really thought all 4 of them needed to be refinished. Yet, in person, turns out they were just dusty.

I guess there is just no substitute for looking at a car in person.

I'm excited about picking up the car this Saturday, weather permitting. Alagar is doing the timing belt service on it this week, and a few other tidbits. Nice folks to work with there.

Great news and best of luck. I bought a 2000 TDF Blue 550 a couple of years ago and it's been a wonderful experience. I suggest you join the Penn Jersey chapter of the Ferrari Club of America. It's a great organization with lots of fun events. The president, Pietro Castiglione, is a real gentleman and the members are just as nice. I hope we all get good weather so we can enjoy our cars occasionally in the next two months.

Thanks, I'll have to check out the Penn Jersey Chapter events for 2009. I'm a member of the FCA and participate in the Mid-Atlantic Region (FCA-MAR) events down here in Virginia. I would love to travel up to PA and NJ for some of your concours and track events I see pictures of posted on fchat over the years.

I picked up the blue/tan 550 at Algar on Friday of this week.
Drove it 3 hours home to Virginia from Philladelphia. Great driving car.
The folks at Algar are wonderful and they had the car all detailed for me.
They even got the stain out of the passenger side footwell.

Here are a few pics of the ride on Friday and of the car here in Northern VA.
In the last pic, I'm learning to park an extra foot away from the curbs with that low front spoiler on the front.

You will learn to watch the reflection of your car in car in the next stall to judge where the parking stop is. The front end just barely clears most of them but if the big nail is protruding, you'll hear a disgusting pop and have a quarter sized chip come out of your lower valence. Just warm up to the fact that sooner or later you'll need a $1,500 re-do, either for bumps or stone chips! ;)

How about this . . . you pull in to Barnes and Noble to pick up your son. The curb there is low, so you have a little clearance and you just barely overlap the curb. Then you son, who only weighs 140 pounds get in with you and this extra half inch push down on the front causes a heart wrenching scrape as you back out. Oh, well, it happens.

    Yes, it most certainly does!

I was carefully pulling out of a driveway at an angle and a little lump in the asphalt, two feet into the street, grenaded mine one time. The b*tch of it was that I had just left the body shop after having it redone about 15 minutes prior! They had done it like Papier Mache so the next time, they completely filled in the gap underneath.
