Wow, Toggie nicely done ! What recession ?
Congrats! How did you make room in the garage? TdF/cuio may be my favorite color combo for the Maranello. -dsd
That was my toughest choice, making room for the new car in my garage. One of my other fun cars had to go. I've put my Jaguar E-Type up for sale on consignment with a local British shop. I'll be placing an ad in the "Other Cars" section of FerrariAds.com once the car is moved over there on Mon or Tue of this upcoming week. For anyone who is curious, pics of my E-type are here in this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=173221 I love my Jaguar but it is kind of redundant when compared to a 550 (front engine coupe with a stick shift). I've got a feeling someone will be getting a nice Series II E-Type for not too much money.
As far as the belt service, my original plan was to drive it a while and then have it done near my home (FOW or Competizione). But, I called Algar today and, since we're having a few things done up there this week anyway, I'm getting the belt service done up there this week. I have to say, those are great people to work with up there.
Congrats!!!! Beautiful car!!! BTW I have a few empty garage spaces you can use for your Ferrari's (or Jag). I promise to start it regularly and keep the oil moving at least once a week.
Toggie: Looks like a beauty. While you are at it, have Algar check all the coolant hoses- for a few bucks now, you can save yourself a ton of grief later. (I know, I bought my first 550 used from Algar, and one of the hoses under the plenum blew while I was on a rally a couple days later. Algar was kind enough to pick the car up in Vermont, and do the service for me at no charge, but why screw around?) Probably not a bad idea for them to go through the car carefully for you while it is still there. If you have never owned one of these, you are in for a real treat. Biggest mistake I made the first time I drove one was assuming that the steering required the kind of muscle the BBi did- almost put the car into a brick wall it turned in so fast. Fresh tires will make a huge difference as well. Enjoy that beast.
Thanks. I checked the front of the long hose under the plenum. I was told to look for the upgraded hose with the two whites stripes next to the hose bracket. It had those white stripes so I assume it has the upgraded hose under there. Best I can tell, given the advice in this post: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=136218490#post136218490
Make sure the motor mounts are updated too. Anyway, sell the Vette not the Jag. The jag is so much nicer, and trust me there will be no similarities except on paper In fact, I am willing to donate a garage space to the E-Type. Even willing to make sure it gets driven for you Look forward to seeing it! -dsd
I'm glad you feel that way about the folks at Algar, they are a first class group, and I have bought 8 cars from them, soon to be 9.
Magnifico! Way to go, Ron! That's the color combo I'd go for and it goes well with the snow. Congrats! When it's all settled into the garage, give me a call and I'll drop by. Bill
I appreciate the offer but the Jaguar went to the consignment place this afternoon. And I went ahead and posted the ad in FerrariAds.com in the "Other Car" section. Check the ad out here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/ferrariads/showproduct.php?product=2437 Let me know if you have any advice on how to make the ad better. Thanks.
They are helping me find a Continental GT for the wife. I'm set for awhile with the 997S, and the Gallardo.
wow congrats! that is my favorite color combo for the 550! and i think that somebody is going to get a hell of a deal with that e type.
Congrats Ron! I am so jealous. You are living my second fantasy - deciding which Ferrari to drive. My first was being able to say "my" and "Ferrari" together. The 550 is a beautiful car. Enjoy it often. Curtis
Toggie, Congratulations. That's a beautiful looking car. I can't wait to see it (hopefully at the Spring Thaw), so I can take some pics of it?? If Bill is too busy with his TR, I could help bring your other car to the event!! Sorry...I couldn't help myself. Please post your opinions on the differences in driving the two cars! Bill
