I park them after the first ding or the first bird craps on them whichever occurs first.

Engine compartment looks a little rough for 1100 miles. But 3 years of use and no cleaning...maybe.

    Tires look really good.

Unfortunately for the owner, it was not auctioned at Barrett Jan 07 sale.

That would be nerve-wracking for me to deal with. What do you keep, clean or change?

That thread is interesting. One guy was talking about changing the oil through the dipstick because it has the original oil filter...and oil! If you read on you'll see the guide marks from the factory are still on the paint for applying the stripes. It has never even been waxed. That's crazy.

I would opt to do nothing, not even wash it. I wouldn't even start it at this point. It's a museum piece.

I owned a 74 455 SD once with 21k on the clock and I can tell you my Trans AM did not have the "original" air in its tires. If those are the original tires then they would be flat spotted something terrible. Also, the car should be worshipped for its originality and not because it has a cool automatic transmission. If it was a 4 speed, they would all be admiring the 4 speed. I also like the color due to its rareness. Great car. Great find. An even better story. I am sure they paid a pretty penny for that one. The down market may not have much effect on a car like this since there are few, if any, like it. Reminds me of the green Z28 sold at BJ a couple years ago with low mileage that had sat a delaership all of its life.

The OG owner must have had some sort of mental issue. I can't imagine parking a car & not driving it over some ding.

Eh.. you see, this is were it gets tricky. The car does have 1100 miles on it, and has been sitting with little/no maintenance for 35 years. It's not particularly rare, just in a condition that is rarely seen.

IF it was me, I'd probably find some suitable wear/tear items I could swap out for the originals (tires, seats), give it a very sensitive clean-up and drive it occasionally.

The new owner of the car has opted to not clean it yet. He is organizing shipping and is fretting about who to use. It is a regular production car but at least is a Z-28 and a rally sport. It should be kept as a benchmark car for reference and enable people to see "what they were really like".

    neat.

....would rather have another 70 LT1 4 speed car though.

this super original stuff is lost on me, i just want to drive all my cars before we run out of oil, or blow the damn planet up.

I hope they put it in a bubble and don't touch it.
The restoration field is full of miss-informatiom and debate. Cars like this become the ultimate reference guide, until they are messed with.

Unfortunatly I don't see it bringing big bucks. Like Ralf mentionned, he is probably kicking himself for not having it at the 07 Barret Jackson :D

Cool car, i'd just freshen it up and drive it!

You can't drive it and it is no good when it isn't driven.

I would show it for a year. Then sell.

Perhaps it's just the skeptic in me, but I find it hard to believe someone could be obsessive to the point they would park a car over a ding, yet they couldn't be bothered to completely scrape the window sticker off when it was new.
