For those who have wives who were born in a different country,
I'm just curious how you handled it.

Which country did you marry in? Which one do you live in? How often and how long do you visit the other country? (Or if you have a house in both, how long do you stay in each one?)

You go and take a thread that could have been filled with pictures of beautiful, foreign, mail order brides and destroy any chance of that with one pic.

This thread will never recover from that.

I expected more out of you Lamour. YOU of all people.

Not if she's Russian/Ukraine, she's a keeper, whole different mind-set going on there.

"toy" American girls always come with the princess attitude, men need to spend money on them to keep them interested bs.

As much as I love Russian/Polish women, I have to disagree. All the ones I've dealt with have had a *****y attitude about them. I have no clue why. Also they seemed a bit materialistic. I mentioned this to a Russian friend of mine and he said his wife who is Russian, could be the same way sometimes esp the *****y part.

It's less to do with ethnicity, and everything to do with relationship dynamics. You got them, obviously because you wanted them. So, it's a case of somebody wanting, and somebody being wanted. Guess who gets to call the shots. If a relationship is on an equal footing, or if the man is the one who is wanted, it becomes different from the examples you have seen. Kids, custody and wife-support and child-support laws, social customs, etc., all act as leverage points too. People in Eastern European countries
grow up poor, and wanting the things in the west. When they think they have a shot at it, they grab it with both arms, and can seem to be overly aggressive/materialistic. It's just because of the mentality where they grew up--grab what you can for yourself.

Go with Indian women. Well-educated, cultured, polite, faithful, and very gracious. No concept of being *****y, using people, etc. Looks can be "challenging" compared to Eastern European women, but most life partners' looks fade after a few years--the beauty has to remain in the relationship, or it will fizzle too. Generally speaking, of course.

    Your mileage may vary.

There's an Indian woman... I can't remember her name, but she is the hottest hottie the world has ever seen.

I'll have to find a pic if I can remember her name. She's babely.

    To answer your questions:

I have a Japanese wife, we did the justice of the peace thing here but then had a small family ceremony at the Grand Canyon, we felt it would be more interesting for her family to do something different. Her family doesn't speak English and mine speaks no Japanese so we split the difference and had a native American Indian do the ceremony in his language so no one understood.
We live here and usually go back to Japan about once a year, she stays for close to a month and I usually stay about 2 weeks. I sometimes get put to work by her father driving around making deliveries for his business when I am there.

Indian women have been crowned Miss Universe and Miss World. Don't be fooled. They don't represent normal, everyday Indian women. I wouldn't say Indian women are ugly, but they are definitely more plain than western women. India is a huge country, and there are many different "looks" to Indians. Check out Frida Pinto, the sensation from Slumdog Millionaire. Totally cute IMO--she seems to give off the same vibe as the young-looking cutie singer from France, Alyzee. I think the prettiest of the lot are from Kashmir (lovely big eyes), and that seems to be the consensus amongst my Indian friends too.

What do you mean by change after marriage? Not sure I can answer that as we lived together nearly 8 years before we got married, marriage was just a technicality.
I speak a little Japanese, not enough to converse (I've struggled to learn it). I had no preference for Japanese woman, it was sort of random that I met her. Her English was pretty good but not great at the time we met, it was almost a deal breaker for me. Her English is excellent now.

first of all, please dont take this as offensive or racist, but its a genuine question. i dont mean to offend anyone...

i often see older/uglier caucasian men with younger/atractive asain women. im sure some of them are "import wives" but i was just curious.....
do you think the asian girls find it harder to distinguish ugly from attractive in another race.

as a caucasian, i dont find asain girls as attractive as caucasian... BUT the ones i do find attractive are the ones that have mixed race (asian/caucasian)

    genetic disposition????

Are you an idiot? The basics of appeal pretty much transcend racial barriers...they do cross over on social barriers, but that's a whole different ballgame.

Marry within your ethnic, social and economic strata and be done with it.

I guess you guys know my wife is from China, Chong Qing, we did a K1 Visa for her to come over here. It is way to long of a story to start talking about all of it, these are a few details that I guess are important:

    1) It took us about 14 months for her to get her Visa.
    2) We were married in the US about 1.5 months after she got here.
    3) It is a great experience to be married to another girl from a different culture, visiting that country, meeting people ect...
    4) Most of the women from China or Japan are pretty tough skinned women, they give no quarter to anything.
    5) Be prepared for one hell of a change in you're life!

Our life is great, the hardest thing is getting used to living with someone from another country, it has to be a 50/50 thing, nothing more, nothing less. The best part is teaching them things about the US that they don't know:
    1) How to drive, that was a treat!
    2) You can't go to Wal-Mart and bargain with the employees there.

I guess one of the hardest things to try and get them to believe is that the US isn't a place where you can come here and be a millionaire overnight and that's what most of the girls in China think. When you go there as an American and you talk to some of the people they just can't believe that isn't true, they have been taken down a wrong road.

There are some Chinese/Asian girls that will use the hell out of you though just for a Green Card, so that is one thing that you really need to look out for. There was another quote about great looking Asian girls being with these terrible looking guys, you can pretty much decide on you're own what that is all about, reference Green Card.

One thing that I always thought was interesting about my life is this. I am the first person in my family to marry outside of his ethnic group and my son is the last holder of our family name, so that can lead to an interesting family tree later on in life.

So yea, it is interesting and it can be a major pain in the a$$ sometimes, but you will find that with any women, no matter where they are from. I have never regretted it since we have been married, I got lucky and have married a beautiful girl that I know loves me very much. We have a great son and an even better life, so I am real happy with everything that has happen.

The word "Mail Order Bride" is such a bad way to look at it, but if that is the way that you want to classify it, then that is up to you. I guess I look at it as meeting someone, getting to know them and then letting the future take it's course.

I have been to China 5 times in the last 5.5 years that we have been married. Had a great time each time that I go there, food is great, people treat you like kings there. We are going to retire there for sure so we are looking forward to that in the future.

Trust me, they know what they are doing, they don't mind being a trophy wife for a few years to get a Green Card, then it's, "See ya later beautiful one!" and out the door she goes!
