Yes, I'd probably go Ferrari again. Lambo is exotic, but they're a bit over the top for me. The Countach is comical. The Diablo is sexy, but in a drug dealer-ish way. The Gallardo/Murcielago looks like it's trying to hard to be a spaceship. And, frankly, I enjoy the Ferrari racing heritage and tradition. To quote Clarkson on the Gallardo: "There's is only one Ferrari. And this isn't it."

I had a 911, and it's a great car but not an exotic. (You could argue the Carrera GT and 959 are exotic, and the BMW Z8 is exotic, but the marques are high volume compared to Ferrari, Lambo, Aston, Pagani, Spyker, etc.)

I want to go vintage next time, however, and that probably does mean a Porsche (for cost, reliability, parts availability, etc.)

Yes, or an earlier 911 sunroof coupe. Not exotic, but I love older cars. Dino 246s are great.

In the moderns there are a number of good other good and interesting choices. For older cars ferraris were so much better than others that the list of desirables is full. Pre 80 there are only early countaches miuras etypes cobras, bugattis that would compete.
Yes I would really like a 288 and a daytona so would prioritize finances that way.

If I were to have less to spend and get a modern then frankly a Gt3 for modern drives and track is alluring, a zr1 seems real interesting and a ford Gt a more interesting and sound investment than any modern ferrari. As an exotic I think a gallardo is a far more fresh and interesting design. Yes I would take a scud over the others, but not for the 200k more it would cost, I would also have to live with the stigmna the modern ferraris project and there is no way i would put up with the begging the dealer routine.

Would i take a scud over both a Gt3 and a ZR1 for the same or less money, no. I already have a great ferrari, f-cars were the pinacle of design, performance, taste, commitment to mechanical sculpture and driving, not anymore. Now they may still be arguably the most viceral driving experince, but this comes with stigma, cartoonish derivative styling and a lame buying experince designed to turn sucessful peoiple into suckers, like standing in line to get into a lame club makes getting in desirable.

Well, I don' t really know if I'd go for another Ferrari or not. I think that as far as performance goes, Corvette gives a bigger bang for the buck. For tht matter, so does Porsche, in my opinion.

Bang for the buck is horse power to weight ratio per dollar. As far as style goes, it all depends on what you like. Ferraris have good style, but sometimes it gets in the way. For example, I've come out of the store to find my Ferrari completely surrounded by on lookers. They want to talk, and I want to go home. Then there's the matter of maintenance and parts. The outragous price for parts that Ferrari charges just won't go down, for me. I know there's a few folks on the forum that like to brag about how much they pay for parts and service, and it was the same way when I was on the Mooney forum and guys were bragging about how much they paid for annual inspections.

In the end I would probably not go for another Ferrari. I think I would go for something else, but I don't know what that would be at this point in time.

Amen! There's something "exotic" about a vintage automobile no matter the marque or model.
