I forgot to mention that the wiring instructions that I passed along to Daniel turned out to be piss poor. That didn't help the cause any. I am revising this week.

In any event, we're moving forward.

Been playing with the crimping tool and these WeatherPack connectors (and pins) all day. Why on Earth didn't Ferrari use something like this to begin with? It is amazingly 'sealed' and mongo-tight. I think it'll work great. Watch this space. :)

They are very nice plugs!! The reason Ferrari didnt use them is because they cost an arm and a leg! :D:D

We use them at work, but mainly use Deutsch connectors. They come in ALL types. From twin pin connectors up to 70 pin connectors. I think the 70 pin connectors are around $200 each, without all the pins etc... :D:D

You also need a special crimping tool to do the job. They are the same, waterproof and tight. They last forever. Really good stuff and the price reflects this. :D:D

The cost of this grill can also be offset by selling your existing grill, which Ferrari has ridiculously priced.

I bought the special crimping tool, because I figured "any job worth doing, is worth doing right".

On my bench, I practiced with about 15 dummy plugs & seals of various gauges. Once I got the hang of it, I headed out the car. In about 40 minutes I crimped the entire 'car-side' harnesses. Tomorrow, I'll tackle the tail light side of the equation.

Bottom line? Without the proper tool, this would be a joke. Without the right connectors, it would look like crud. I think I'm already in line to loan my crimp tool to J.Salmon (F355) once I'm finished.

Wow. OK so forgive the "dummy" question, but does this mean we (me, you, Luigi - whoever) can "manufacture" a real live conversion harness with these babies? Where do I sign up?

    Daniel, you da man!!!

You're not wrong there mate! :D:D

You couldnt do it without the proper crimping tool. Just like Deutsch connectors. :D:D

And Im with you mate........ya do it once, ya do it right! :D:D

I'll be selling mine! but as a whole setup, not just the grill. But I wont be "giving it away".
Long ago I decided that this car will be the last thing I ever own... even if im living in it one day. I don't give a flip about what it will be worth to someone else some day. Even if I can afford my ultimate dream car one day, my 348 will always remain part of my family!
I also have the original seats, wheels, and a bunch of other misc original parts to liquidate this spring... anyone need a couple mouse-belt ECU's ??? lol

Steve, they're 'worth' 3k each, in my opinion. I have no dog in the fight: mine is not for sale, nor do I have any stock of them.

By all means don't sell the slatted grill! I have been experimenting with some worthy alternative uses for it, although you should remove the horse first.

    1. Put it in front of the door mat so your kids can scrape the mud off of their shoes (that's worth $3K to mom).
    2. Place it over your outdoor fire pit and cook hot dogs and burgers on it. Just make sure you align the weenies across the slats and not parallel to them or they will fall through. ;)
    3. Makes a neat front upper windshield shade for big manly 4X4 pickups.

    I'm open to more ideas...

seriously? Do you think there is a market for them? I really want husker's grill, but with this year's cashflow, its not going to happen....selling the old one is attractive, since I think I'm going to keep the 348 for a long time, so I'm not too concerned about resale

Tom348 just emailed me and said his installation took 3 hours and that it looks like a peach. He didn't mention any bloody knuckles - he must have read the "must wear gloves" part. ;)

when you say "they" what part or parts are you referring too?? I made mention of several parts in my post, but I doubt you meant the seatbelt ECU's! lol

    Steve -

The aluminum grill is what I'm referring to.

PLEASE contact me tomorrow at Ricambi about the wiring for F355 lamps. I now have mine fully wired in. It was NOT straightforward but I've got it all traced and mapped. If you need to borrow my crimper and some Weatherpack stuff, I'd be happy to send it your direction.

I will second that. Sounds like Daniel is running about 2 days ahead of me. I was going to take off early Friday afternoon so I had good daylight and map these back to the female plug in the car using the numbers on the plug (there is one for each port) as my reference point, instead of colors.

Tom348, you mentioned some sort of harness that you had - any extra info. you can shed on what you've got and who made it would be most helpful!

I must confess. I sold them to Tom last summer. I switched my 348 back to the stock tail lights. Here's what they looked like. Got them with my GaRED kit.

Wow Daniel... seriously?? 3 grand for JUST the grill piece?!? I'd prolly soil my shorts if I came across somebody actually willing to pay me that much for it!!
Anyway, my grill is arriving sans lights, as my brokedness currently prevents me from affording them.... so it'll be a while before I can do anything with my new grill, or be in need of the Weatherpack stuff. Thanks very much for the offer though, i'll take you up on it eventually.
My integrity and profound respect for Collin compelled me to buy the grill as soon as my number came up, because I said I would!
So for now, i'll be lurking around ebay and garage sales in search of a set of lights, wish me luck!! ;)

    Two things:

We WILL get a wiring solution to this, it just make take a bit.

Second, Steve, you are so gracious that you bought a grill and I appreciate your kindness and integrity. That said, PLEASE everyone, DO NOT buy a Grill because you feel obligated to the Husker. I did this for fun, not for profit. If I never made a dime, I'm good with it. It's no big deal.

DO NOT ORDER A GRILL OUT OF OBLIGATION.

Steve, bless you my child, but refuse shipment on that thing and let's get you set up when you're in a better place.
