Sorry if anyone is offended in advance.. and I did try several searches, but does anyone know of or have pictures of a 308 V8 installed in a 246? Thanks, Mr.F40
An "expert" at a 308 engine swap for a 246 Dino? WOW! How many swaps does it take to be considered an "expert"? Sorry, it's late.
Hi, I have seen one in the UK, it also has flaired wheel arches. It has to be said its not in concours condition, I think I took a couple of pictures of it but I will have to find them!! I will post them on here when I find them. Regards, Phil.
Hello Phil, this must be the one you saw in the UK. But I dont have further informations, sorry. Regards Matthias Bartz Image Unavailable, Please Login
this is owned by a chap who lives near manchester in the uk,i believe the engine came out of his mondial...and no the bonnet doesn't shut properly now! he is somewhat eccentric!
The 308 engine fits the 246 with no major issues, I'm not saying it's OK just that it can be easily done.
i think its cool. i cannot get over the prices of the 206/246 line, but a ferrari v8 would be welcome over the 6 if the original 6 was damaged beyond repair.
A friend of mine has a burned out fibreglass 308GTB and is planning to put a fibreglass 246GT body on it, which achieves a similar effect. He has apparently found someone in UK who makes an exact fibreglass body unlike most of the terrible 'replicas' around. Sounds like a fun project and as he'll be doing it in my workshop I look forward to watching it happen.
A friend of mine had a 246 with a 308 engine installed. Work was done during the 80's in the bay area. Car was shipped to Hawaii where I first saw the car at his home. Considerable front end bodywork was also done with the intent to make the car for track use only. We were both members of the Hawaii FOC at the time so I'm sure others on Oahu know of the car or have seen it. I left the islands in 2000 and last I heard, the owner of the car had moved to New Zealand. Car may have come back to the bay area where he had family.
Cool project! They do have the same wheelbase. The 308 has a wider track but a proper selection of wheeloffset should take care of that. "Dino 308GTB".
