    Danke schone Helmut: I am sure this will be useful to owners. FYI the German text in the Ebay auction explains that the kit includes a hydraulic ram or piston (somebody may know the correct term?) of the type used to activate headlights and seats in Khamsins and the pedal box in a Bora.

    Ops: sorry the kit does NOT contain the cylinder but what is depicted.

    If anyone in the US needs hydraulic help or spheres rebuilt SM world in the Los Angeles world do a great job, your Maserati specialist should know who to turn.

    If you are in Europe and need help I recently met Bernard Tetard whose company sphere technic does nothing but rebuild Citroen hydraulic spheres and renovate hydraulic equipment: he seemed to really know his job, is located near Lyon in France, his email is [email protected]

    My Khamsin 1975 # 1024 is reputably "all original" as per the previous owner. I always thought these cars came with exclusively wilton wool type carpet. My car has loop type carpet which strikes me as incorrect. However in some of the press photos I have it appears in some cases the cars did originally have loop style carpet, other times cut pile (wool?) What have you all seen?

    After looking at the previous photo of my car it reminded me someone walked into my mirror while parked in my garage and broke the base!!! Anyone know of a replacement? I've looked but no success. There are mirrors on the market but with the incorrect base, at least so far.

    Welcome to thios thread always great to have another Khamsin owner here. If I am correct you bought 1024 from M. K. in California right?

    Regarding carpets yes there have been various styles, perhaps if you posted a photo we could comment: there are some who are far more detail ^minded than yours truly here.
    regarding the mirro base speak with MIE and see if they can sort you out, if not let us know and I will try and help you further as will others no doubt.

    First of all, welcome Doug R. I think you will find this is a great forum.

    And your question regarding the mirror brings up an issue for me too.

    Marc, perhaps you know the answer...or perhaps this question can be considered for Mr. Cozza. As you know, I also own a 1975 like Doug R. but my side-view mirrors are black, rectangular and connected via a "bendable" black stem. You can see them in the pictures that I posted and also on the cars that are pictured in some recent thread entires (see #623 and #635 for example).

    Just wondering if this was an option...if the factory just slapped on whatever was laying around...or what.

    Hello Michael: question added onto Cozza list!

    Doug: my car (a US version AM120US1242) also had the rectangular black mirror, just the one on the drivers side and this seems to me to have been fairly common on US Khamsins. Some had a pair of those.There may have been different mirrors used by the factory and also some owners felt the need to change mirrors when taking delivery of their cars.

    We will find out from Mr Cozza what was what, in the meantime my 2 cents is that the black mirror is more discrete but that a chrome one does not look quite right...however my black one was "politcally correct": it bowed its head in shame above 120mph, i.e. the wind force pushed it back and down! I guess it was a tired one and that a new one would have stayed in position.

    There are many photos of Khamsin here since of the beginning of the thread and that will givr you a general impression: as someone rightly pointed out the one exception which is truly not right was a green Khamsin with two large chrome Jaguar mirrors!     Hello all-- AM120US1174 here. I have also been looking into the "mirror issue." Given the above, I'm glad I didn't buy the chrome mirrors sight unseen from our friends the parts dealers in Seattle or the UK. The big question I have, that maybe Guru Marc can answer is what mirrors shipped into the US? All black accordion or a mix? Did any European cars have the black?

    Hello Sierra Bravo 1174 and welcome to this thread: one more Khamsin owner, excellent!

    Sorry for the late reply I was in Dijon yesterday and came back late (yes I bought plenty of mustard:))

    I am under the impression that a lot of US Khamsins were fitted from new with those black rectangular mirrors. Joe (Italiancars) seems to know which they are and I would certainly trust his statement.
    When I buy a Khamsin again I would, for what it is worth and not being concours minded, want bullet shaped black not shiny mirrors as I feel they would be the least offensive visually....or you could go for purity and not fit any at all, visibility out of it being so good!
    I hasten to add that I don't claim to be any sort of guru but just the keeper of the flame of an unfairly forgotten car, one that got incredibly little coverage in over 35 years of existence whereas many lesser cars have gotten far too much coverage. There are those who are much more technically minded than yours truly here and I am glad that they are posting here and offering help to owners, I am very happy that this thread is snowballing nicely. Let it be the lighthouse in the dark for all Khamsinistas (and any other "Maserschists" who care to red and post!) I actually thought of having such a forum when I started my website but was afraid it would degenerate: I guess I should trust human nature more!

    Will be posting photos of AM120282 in the next day or so.

    Now isn't this interesting the previous picture of the Black and Chrome mirror is exactly the same as fitted to my car. I have found one other car with the same mirror here in Australia which I obtained by swapping some Vitilani California's for it. so I had a spare.
    I wonder how rare they are as they are similar to the Lancia Stratos originals.

    Wow, great find. That is a nice photo. .....Also, it adds to the side-view mirror question. If my eyesight is stil decent, those look like bullet shape mirrors as opposed to the black-bendies.

    Hello all:

    Here at last are some photos of 282 which is for sale and which I went to see the morning of the Gstaad auction.

    It was sold new in Switzerland, has been in the personal ownership of the owner of Garage Beau Rivage in Lausanne a number of years, he acquired it as a trade and just kept it. It was however offered but unsold at the Monaco Bonhams 2002 auction.

    It is rosso rubino metalizzato, quite an attractive color and certainly more interesting than plain red. The paint appaered original to me with barely a few dings, the interior has to be the best maintained best condition original interior I have seen: really really nice. The Swiss typically maintain their cars very well and this car reflected that. The one flaw was the plastic bracket which holds the two levers for trunk and fuel flap opening had broken and was missing. They had no mechanical recors however as they have done their own work.

    I was happy to see a car that presented very well, even though I only had 30 minutes there and don't know what mechanical condition it is in, though I presume it is good.

    No idea, it was before my time. The show appears to have been a lot smaller. In '65 there is a photo of a stand with a Citroen Chapron convertible, Jaguar XKE roadster and MB SE convertible all together.     April 1974, light-blue/creme, the car had the additional frontgrill over the

    front bumper and the later windscreen whiper specification of the 2.Series

    which is unique for this early chassis-no.

    8.8.1974 to AUTOSPORT BOLOGNA -Bologna/Italy and sold to Valenti S.p.A.

    -Rimini + Forli/Italy (reg. LI 301731).

    Later resold to AUTOSPORT BOLOGNA -Bologna/Italy.

    Febr. 1997 to Walter Baeumer -Buende/Germany (reg. HF-L 211)

    Oct. 2000 to Dr. D F -Ottweiler/Germany --restored and repainted

    d.-blue/creme.
