Rusty Rotors After Washing

Just finished reading this thread. LOL! This should be required reading when you join the boards. (Which I just did recently)

 

It was one of my favorites when it was written. The best is the one with Nick / Nick's dad but I cannot seem to find it.

When I first joined Fchat, I thought they were kidding when they said to oil the horn.

 

Don't forget to have those muffler belts checked and adjusted.

 

Go to a hardware store and buy a "cow magnet". Drop it in the gas tank (don't worry it won't go anywhere and won't harm the fuel). You will never see rust again.

 

I had forgotten this one..... Seems that the email is now gone but this guy sent an angry note to Rob who passed it along to me. Rather amusing really.

You forgot to tell him that when washing a Ferrari one should always remove the spark plugs, pour soap down the holes and shoot water with a hose into the holes until the water runs clean...

don't forget the wipe-down w/ DOT-4 for that quick detail in-between-washes (I understand DOT-3 provide the same result). Hell of a lot cheaper than that stuff from Griot's . . .

Thank goodness I know how to use the search button. I too am not happy about my rusty rotors and was going to ask if there was any way to prevent it. Thankfully I didn't LOL.

 

Just don't ask Rifledriver if you can skip your rotor's belt factory recommended service intervals.

Thanks for reviving this thread - I hadn't seen it before. One of the funniest reads I've had in a long time - I too had a "coffee thru' the nose" moment!

The poor guy is still on the site, and I suspect is cringing when he saw that someone had revived this thread. Probably knows a little more now than then. Still, it was pretty sh1tty of Mark to do that with his post, but it was funny.

Don't let me stop any of you, but while all of you have been continuing this funny thread about the "Rusty Rotor Guy," he's sold his 360 (after owning it for a year), attended Race Driver School, and now owns two exotics: an F430 spider and a Lambo LP640. I'd say he's done okay since asking about those rusty rotors some three years ago or so.

 

It's very impressive that Edwin has managed to complete a 4 day course in order to drive his car properly and spent a week learning to drive off road. What did I do in that time? Well I spent some time driving exotics, the V12s are pretty fast and the 360 does well in the corners. But as noted by Edwin driving a Ferrari road car is something you can learn to do in a long weekend. Try doing something that takes some real effort to learn, something that might kill you if you don't do it right.

 

I'm seriously impressed, Mark. Congratulations to you, but as for my good friend Edwin, who is a great guy, don't be too quick to judge him by my short comment. In the past 3 years, he sold the 360 after one year of ownership, bought an F430 Spider, as well as a Lamborghini LP640, did the Panoz School after Bondurant, and then went on to Skip Barber and did his 3-day Road Racing, then back for the 2-day Advanced Road Racing School, then took the Car Control Clinic--all at Sebring. He did the Ferrari Driving Experience Classes 4 times over the past 3 years. He took the Basic twice, and the Advanced twice. As Edwin tells me, "It was really fun, beautiful track, fresh air, good food, and first class." Edwin raced SCCA - Spec Racer Ford- for two years. He actually raced back at Sebring, and was about 25 out of 75. Not bad, right Mark? And being a Texan like Edwin, you can appreciate the fact that he took 8th Place (out of 20) at Texas Motor Speedway. As Edwin says it, "SCCA Racing really improves your driving skills."

So anyway, I'm impressed with my good friend Edwin and I'm impressed with you too, Mark. I have never driven a V12 Ferrari myself, just dreamed about it. But, I'll get my chance to do some driving this Summer, and not just in my 308.

You see, my friend Edwin is a member of the Motorsport Ranch Track (30 miles south of Houston). He's invited me for some laps in my choice of either his Ferrari or Lamborghini, and to have a Practice Day in a Spec Racer which he will gladly rent for me. That's Edwin...the guy who started this post with a simple question. My friend, and a very nice person who knows more about cars and racing today than many people who have been posting on F-Chat for over 3 years.

 

Yes, and I take full credit for his current knowledge level about preventing rotors from rusting

 

I just have to say....that your vanginuh is amazingly sandy. If you love your buddy Eddie so much, why not propose to him? Or at least make little shrines and statues of him.
