Rebaque wasn't that bad for a pay driver. There's a local joke that Rebaque made his father a millionaire...... as he was at some point a multi millionaire. Johnny Dumfries was known to be a very nice guy even though his aristocratic origins. As a driver, not good but not the worst. The comparison with Senna as teammates did not help either
Sorry, but I am calling an unfair bash on Portago. Clear reports on the wreck indicate a tire failure at maybe 250+ KPH. It is true that rumors exist that they skipped a tire change to make up some time, but that is also a team issue. Remember that E. Ferrari himself was charged with negligant homicide and eventually cleared in the Italian courts. He may not have been Fangio, but he was far from being the worst.
Ross invited her to test for Honda recently. Not sure how that all turned out. Oh well, moot point. As to my earlier point, I'm not saying Montoya was a bad driver; on the contrary, he was quite talented (albeit he always did have a knack for tradin' paint. What qualifies him as "worst" are not his driving skills. It's that he's no longer in F1 when he damn well could/should be and chooses to dilly about on an oval instead. Guys like Satoeven Ideat least get points for having the passion to stick with it.
at least Ricky Bobby was funny. Michael is one of the most humorless, mean-spirited people I've ever encountered.
IMO, the best way to choose, is to see the teams each driver as been at and the results they achieved.Saying this, David Coulthard is one of the worst!
DC cannot be the worst. He finished 3rd in the world championship 4 times and 2nd once beating out Mika Hakinen that year considerably. With a little more luck DC could have been a world champ.
With a little more luck? In which year would "a little more luck" have made him world champion? Every year the Mclaren was capable of challenging the Ferrari's, Mika smoked him. DC said himself that he "wasn't able to consistently extract the maximum out of the car, and that's something he's going to have to live with". That's an exact quote by the way, I'll gladly find the link for you later. Even if DC was partnered with a lesser driver, he still wouldn't have been quick enough to beat Michael. From 1998-2000 it was all Schumacher vs. Hakkinen, then Mika lost his motivation in 2001, after becoming a father, and crashing massively the first race of the year. Even so, he still managed to win a couple grand prix, and it would have been 3 if it wasn't for his engine blowing on the last lap at Barcelona, after leading the race. Sorry, but DC wasn't up to the job.
Yes and No. He got whooped by Fred, but then again, the 2008 Renault was a handful car. Give him this season to prove himself, then he's out.
I never said DC was the best driver in the world but he is certainly far from the worse and if Michael Schumacher hadn't been as dominant he could have certainly made a very good run at a title.
Never said that you did... I don't think anyone here honestly believes he's the worst. If anyone seriously thinks that, then they know nothing about F1. You don't win 13 grand prix on accident. I agree he needed a little more than luck to get a title, he was a decent driver though but did get stomped on pretty badly by Kimi and Mika at times.
And Senna was right behind with 2 coming in on the hook, and both of his happened in front of me. But it wasn't in a race so it doesn't count. Rebacque was a decent driver, certainly nowhere near the worst. Ditto. Doubtful. You may not like him, but JV is a WDC, and you cannot say 'it was the car', because lots of people have driven great cars to nowhere, and lots of drivers have driven ****boxes to podium finishes. Bad personality maybe, but anyone that has won races is not BAD. 1980 WDC. You're an idiot. I've been saying that for years on here. But not the worst driver by any means. How do you explain his WINS ? To me, the definition of the 'worst driver' is either someone who cannot even qualify, or cannot finish in the Top-20, let alone the top-16. If you NEVER EVER finish in the top-16 but your car is running at the finish, THAT, my friends, is a 'worst driver' candidate.
Alwxander Wurz should make the list in the same way Ide made it, not much talent, wrecked out drivers that were lapping him while trying to race them and just a danger every 5 laps to someone.
The same way Ide made it? Wurz had several podium finishes in his career. He was and still is a highly valued test driver. These facts alone shouldn't have him anywhere near Ide. Ide was terrible, he had no business being in an F1 car. Wurz at least scored some results in the machinery he was in.
Being a danger on the track, racing with cars that are lapping you, taking some of them out, being an overall road block to other cars lapping you is by far more serious than a few points over the years. That's what I meant by "getting on the list the way Ide did". If Ide scored a few points he should still be on the list. A few points here and there doesn't excuse the piss poor behavior by Wurz.
