I've seriously made the decision. I'm going to sell my 2006 porsche 997 and buy a 355 (or maybe a 360). I'm posting this on the off chance there may be a match made in heaven. What I have: A 16,000 mile CPO!!!!! 997 with sports seats, 6 speed, 19 inch "S" wheels. What I want : a 355 GTB or GTS ( no spider) with header/cat fixed. If anyone is interested in a trade +/- dollars please let me know! Thanks!!! Addendum: car in background!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Damn, that's quite a trade. The 997 is a helluva car. My 355 would fit the bill for you, but unfortunately I love my car. And the Capristo goes on tomorrow... Good luck with the trade, it ought to go over easy!
good luck with the trade. i wish i could say whats better, 355 or 360. 355 is great, but dear lord, i'm tired of maintaince!! but on the other hand, i cant wait to get my 355 back, so there must be something i like about it.
I made that same decision last summer, sold my 997 and purchased an awesome 355. The 997 was a great teutonic work of engineering but my 355 has a passionate feel that is almost indescribable. I smile ear to ear everytime I'm on the road in my Azzuro California 355! Good luck!
I did something very similar and gave up an 03 995 C4S for the 348. I miss the porsche every now and again (it was a beautiful car), but it never inspired in me all the emotions the 348 does. Good luck!
Mods: sorry if I posted an "ad" here, you can delete the thread if you need to. I guess I thought of it more as a trade rather than an ad to sell.
May I ask, why are you selling the 997? (I am seriously looking for one, to use as a daily drive...) Best regards
I bought it for my wife (in April 2008) who decided she'd rather have a Volvo wagon. Bought her a wagon, so now I'm driving the 997 about 1 day out of the week as I prefer my VW GTI. I've never been a big P-car fan, truth be told.
Ya the volvo wagon is more practical than the 997. Id go test drive a GT3 RS Porsche and then decide. Cant go wrong with either, especially with the low prices of 355's these days.
I am sure you can slowly work on her...... I am struggling to understand why you would prefer the Golf GTi to the 997. After the toys I have bought not being used as they are supposed to be my wife is weary of me buying another garage queen (this time a Ferrari)! Harry
I wasn't either until I saw my 993RS and I am glad I bought the car - it is worth much more than my underperforming pension and has actually appreciated in value since I bought the car. Perhaps you need to test drive a 993? It will feel more special than a 997 (some may disagree and call it agricultural!). Harry
Uro is an experienced car guy, I'm sure he knows what he wants (though he's been known for slight (ahem) hesitations in pulling the trigger ). I think (we) Porsche fans are inclined to push the P-marque a bit too much. I've had Porsches for 20+ years going back to 80's Carreras up to a current 997GT3RS. They are great cars and I love them, but they really are not for everyone. Before I had a Porsche, I had a Ferrari and I first moved to Porsches because they were more reliable than the very problem-laden example of a 308 I had. Now that the modern Ferraris are showing a better history and we have Fchat to share ownership/maintenance experiences, I find I enjoy driving my Ferrari more than my Porsche for that causal weekend drive.
Uro, you can't go wrong with the Ferrari. A lot of us have had many Porsches and still do and we love them but there is something about a Ferrari that sets your sole on fire deep within. You can't explain that to anyone that hasn't owned a Ferrari, it's a passion you must experience. Too many Dr.'s, attorneys and suits in the Porsche.......just another one in the crowd
May be that's why you hate it. If you're talking about 997 RS, you can get two 355s for one 7RS. That's whole a lot more. Not little. Yea, I too wasn't very impressed with the modern Porsches until I get behind the wheels of their GT cars. GT3, GT2 and RS are night and day difference from regular 911s. They are in a different league. I was really wanted that 993 RS but we cannot buy it in US unless you pay ridiculous amount importing. Aircools FTW.
