355 vs jap performance cars at traffic lights

You are right in your 2 responses. On the third of you are tempted to blow them away you can do that to if you like but if you are beaten becuase you have a slow reaction time driving a manual and they are a better driver/take off than you then you may be slightly embarased but hey..... who has the prancing horse??

 

Who cares if they win in the end they will be in a wannabe race car and you will be in a Ferrari nuff said.

When people ask about a Ferrari purchase, I always tell them-

your neighbours will say "Look, Joe has a Ferrari" whether it's a 3x8 or an Enzo. That twin turbo sports car is just that, "Oh look, he's bought a red sports car". same with a p.o.s. Roller or Bentley, they know what you have, it's not a Merc/Caddie/Beemer all better cars.

 

TBH I wouldnt even bother going up against anything thats Jap and has a turbo on.

I had jap cars before the Ferrari, 2 of which were very high power, a 550bhp 300ZX and a 700hp+ (depending on fuel rating) R33 GTR the Ferrari would of, quite frankly been ripped, then given, and transplanted a new arse by either of these 2 cars.

However, I sold the Skyline for a number of reasons, the main being

1. I got fed up with EVERY time I went out, some idiot teen who couldnt drive tried to provoke me into a race by performing various dodgey driving to get my attention...LOOK RETARD IVE SEEN YOU I DONT WANNA!

2. I wanted something with a bit more class and style.

I miss the power of the Skyline sometime, it was totally brutal, I got a GPS confirmed 206mph at an unused runway at a place called BruntingThorpe in the UK, and it didnt handle bad either!

Now though, its much better driving around, sure people want to race, but the majority...even them pesky teens, just watch as you go past them and smile, wave, give thumbs up much more relaxed, and I enjoy driving again.

So no, I wouldnt race, rolling or standing, any 300zx/200sx/Skyline Supra or other largish capacity turbo powered jap motor....not at least until Ive finished fiddling of course hehehe

 

People people, no need to justify your losses by saying how expensive or classy the ferrari or how much heritage it has, bottom line is the other car is FASTER. I know I'm being harsh, but Im just saying what i think... Just admit the 355 time has pass and don't force an old horse to race with the newer breds today. If you want speed, buy a FASTER car its that simple. I persoanlly like to drive the car through tunnels, underpasses and sharp conners late at night.. when nobody is a round.. the car drives like a mad crazy horse. The sound it makes in tunnels are amazing. so freaking loud!!

When the guy rolls up on me at a light and does his "stupid thing" to get my attention... I just say with a smile on my face " Do you want to trade ?"

This does 2 things :

1. It makes him admit he wishes he was in the F-car when he says "sure"
2. Makes him think "maybe" I really like his car. Some are nice... but never nice enough

Even funnier when his girlfriend starts to laugh at him...

This works well for me since I am in a Spider... they always want to talk to you since they can see you so clearly.

 

Some proper jap machinery will easily blow away a 355, and keep up with them in corners too. Like the earlier mentioned R32 GTR...1500KG's (not that heavy) with very minor mods (exhaust, 0.9 bar, filters kinda thing) will see around 400 hp...Many are much more powerful than that. However most owners I know with those cars have utmost respect for italian masterpieces. Sure, its pretty satisfying that your £10K car blows away a £40K ferrari (just current market prices) but we all know which we'd rather own...
