Hi, I have just bought a Mondial 8. It usually starts but sometimes wont fire. I have stripped the fuse box and resoldered the dry joints. It still has issues but appears to have sorted a few of the electrical faults. I am swaying towards the fuel pump fuse but without schematics, I dont know which fuse to check. It turns over really well, and when it does fire, runs really well. Keven

do a search on Mondial fuel pump relay bypass. Turn the key on and go to the fuel pump( rear wheel passenger side) if the pump is not running, then it is probably the fuse box relay. It is the 2 brown wires from the plastic connector.

I sold my Mondial 8 and gave my repair manuals to the new owner. You can make a jumper wire I do not remember which 2 pins will send power to the fuel pump.

Do this as a test only because the fuel pump will be on without the ignition switch on.

    Good luck

I had a similar problem with my Mondial, it would cut out while running too, until I removed the fuel pump fuse from the fuse block & wired in an external fuse. The new fuse uses heavier gauge wires & employs a modern style blade fuse. My relays were OK, it was all a function of the fuse block. There is so much current flowing through that circuit that it tends to melt the back of the fuse block & create a faulty connection. Since the new fuse has been installed I haven't had a problem.

Spray ether starter fluid in the intake while cranking. If it fires you got a fuel problem or extremely weak spark. If it does not fire start checking spark. If you have done simple checks then start at the beginning and check your base timing first meaning cam marks lined with journal marks with crank at TDC in compression stroke.

LOOK AT MY POST 308 CHATTERING AND WON'T START. SAME MO. I don't believe it is bad relays just poor current getting to everything else while trying to start at high amp draw of the starter. Good luck and let me know what you find,I'll keep you posted also,Gilligan.

Fatbillybobs post is the perfect way to go in my opnion. No point searching for problems in the fuel system until you have definately confirmed that you have spark/fuel/ignition right. There are several things that could be the cause.

Fusebox is always the first place I started.
