Get your A/C compressor from here: http://www.a-aironline.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=21

Then remove your old pulley from the dead compressor...install it on your new one.

Call that company to insure that all of the connections are in the right place...they've got the right units...it's just a matter of picking the correct one.

So back to the OP's question, is it possible to rebuild the a/c compressor? I replaced mine this past year, but I kept the original part with the idea that maybe it could be rebuilt. So far, it's still sitting in a box in my garage...

I've done quite a bit of research regarding Ferrari AC compressors, albeit mainly for the 308/328. Ricambi is now selling a replacement for the $$$ OEM compressor that is of very high quality (Sanden-type) and comes with a sight glass and the pulley/electromagnetic clutch assembly. IMHO, $520.00 for a brand new, and improved version of the Ferrari compressor can't be beat.

    LINK: http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=203599

There is also a company called Vintage Air that sells all manner of AC equipment (e.g., compressors, dryers, evaporators, condensers, control units, etc.). They will also manufacture custom sized condensers and mounts. You might be able to find a Sanden-type compressor for less money, but, I'd worry about matching the electromagnetic clutch assembly (due to the high RPMs). IMHO, save the head-ache and replace both the compressor and electromagnetic clutch assembly.

I have had several Ferrari AC compressors re-built by a purportedly highly reputable shop back in Boston, and I was never really as happy with the re-built vs. new.

    Just my opinion.

    Thanks everyone for the help!!

Scott I am thinking the same thing about a rebuilt unit...just so hard to get it right and very few rebuild shops would take the time to make it perfect..lol
Last thing I want is that sucker to blow-up at high rpm...been there and done that.
Daieils compressor is fine as far as I know...just don't like the extra unused grooves on the pulley but for the price I may have to forgo originality.

Thanks FBB...I may use these people on some other items but not on the a/c comp....would rather go new and may modify so I can use something less expensive.

Thanks for the offer Giovanni.....only problem with these used ones is they may be good one minute and bad the next. Mine was stored for a few years with oil and sealed in a controlled environment...was good on removal and now it takes a pull bar to rotate...just don't understand how this could be so I'm going to pull it apart just out of curosity and explore what for me is unchartered territory..lol
