Its happening just like I thought it would a couple years ago and people thought I was on drugs. 348's more valuable than 355's

Still the 355s at this low price are not selling. I hope to get me a 355TB for a track car maybe at $20k. My next prediction is the 360's will drop like rocks because there are too many of them and owners don't want to pay to fix them.

Holy Sh#t Batman, don't say that! The lowly bastard-child 348 actually getting some respect? LOL I am sure the world will right itself again at some point, but it does make me smile now. :)

FBB- Trying to influence the market so you can get a good deal on a 355? Shame on you or you are a saint, never mind which. 348 must be a better deal since it only has one cam belt to change vs two on a 355. Never mind about redline and engine note.

Its not that the 348 is a better car, or is it a faster car, in many 355 circles the 348 is the lowly stepchild to the 355. But the reality of it, if your looking at manufacturing numbers, the 355 is much higher then the the 348's. Then you have the 360 and those manufacturing numbers are very high in Ferrari language. That alone will make 355's compared to 348's in the near future (nearer then most think) dead even in pricing at first in pricing then we will see the 348's go up. This is not about I own a 348, its about history and production numbers. And I love 355's, I will pass on a 360, too much of a jelly bean for my taste. Now since pricing is dropping, am seriously in search for a silver 550! But am not giving up the 348 :)

550 Yahoo, those car have so much torque and a joy to drive. If you wish to share, year, mileage, overall condition and the nasty question of price, only if you wish to share. What color interior?

At the Barrett-Jackson Auction a few weeks ago a silver over black 1995 spyder sold for $88,000 (including 10% buyers premium).

    Details from the auction site:
"A rare Ferrari F-355 Spyder finished in Argento Nurburgring over black. Features upgraded Tubi exhaust, 19" wheels and McIntosh audio. Comes with handbooks, clean CarFax, original tools and records including a 30,000 service in Dec. 2007.
Details This very special F-355 separates itself from the sea of red and yellow Ferraris out there as it is finished in rare Argento Nurburgring over black. It has been pampered and tastefully upgraded with great looking set of 19" wheels and a McIntosh CD head unit. It also has a stainless Tubi exhaust system that unleashes the high-revving, F1-inspired soundtrack. This car was sold new in Los Angeles before going to the Seattle area where it was owned by a Rolex Grand Am series race driver. Included with this Ferrari are both original tool kits, the factory tire compressor, the full handbook set in the original leather portfolio, a spotless CarFax history report, and service receipts that include the 30,000 mile service completed in December of '07 at a cost of almost $11,000. This is a premium F355 in every regard."

Well maybe. As I see the prices on spyders drop the B's should be below that. At some price point it makes me want to start racing a ferrari again. I love the sounds and the feel on track. My 348 engine note was awesome but I ran open pipes. I got not dog in the 348/355 debate but i do admit to a soft spot for the beaten down 348. It looks like the 348 is getting some revenge. The 348 brotherhood has long since solved all the 348 problems. The 355 guys are still arguing how to fix their issues. I really think that is a major issue as to why the 355's are crashing. Just about a year ago a 355 was twice the price of a 348 100% of the time. True parity in pricing is not there yet but I suspect it is coming.

I did not pull all ad particulars but the phone numbers are there in the ads if you are interested. Also, these prices posted are no man bite dog prices but what we are seeing everyday in LosAngeles. There are too many Ferrari's here so prices are down across the entire range of models. 360's are 80K, you can buy a 430 today no lines, that kind of thing. The high end of the market is still decent. Its the toaster cars (cheap Ferraris that everyone can own) that are not selling at currents asks. Low prices have to be offered just to get someone to lowball you even more. Its actually sad but if you are looking for a Ferrari now is the time. As the depression continues and maintenance becomes more overdue even the low prices may not be such a great bargin.

Albert- Thanks, I may have been just kidding FBB. But I think FBB and I are both Maranello lovers now. Disappointing Ferraris: always start, run fine (really fine), twelve cylinder sound, average 500 hp (485+515/2 =500), easy maintenance without removing the engine, classic lines.

Never mind. Once a flat crank fan, always a flat crank fan. Never the twain shall meet. Except occasionally. Enjoy your high revving eight.

Enjoy the high revs on the 8, but God knows the 12's are the ones to own. No engine out is a big plus, and FBB is right, there are lots of cars out here in Southern California, and good prices, but many owners are not up on their maintenance. I just have to add that to the overall price of the car. Ultimately, I would love a 1997 550, Silver with Bordeaux to match the 348, or Titanium with Navy, Black or Tan. Am I out of line to think that a 1997 with under 30K miles can be had for $70,000 to $80,000?

It's a different story with 355 prices in Europe. Good ones have bottomed out and are now climbing in value, against euro early 360's they are expensive.

In a market like this, you are going to see fire sales. And the big problem is that few are buying. Let's face it, if these were prices being listed last year this time, the cars would have sold like they were the last tickle-me Elmo, complete with fist-fights in the front yard.

If you really really have to sell, you are going to eat your shorts, because there are like 2 guys you have to impress. But I don't think that is truly reflective of the prices. The other side to the pricing is that for those who like their cars and do not have to sell, they are going to be much more likely to hold on to them and enjoy them.

I can tell you, you are not buying my 355 for a price like that, but it's not for sale anyway.

Unfortunately fellas there are a ton of cheap 355 owners as well as guys that "want" to be owners. ANY car sub 60K will attract the bottom feeders and therefore bring down the value of the car. The 348 has been beat up unfairly by this same reality now the 355 will be the same way due to the economy.

IMO it is our "responsibility" to maintain these cars accordingly and don't "fire sale" your car just because it is the trend. Unless of course the stock market spanked you and your kids are going hungry, stand firm and hold out for real numbers....This isn't a Corvette for heaven sake.

Good ones will be worth money someday because there are a load of them that are crap!

Absolutely!!! ............ unfortunately there are quite a few cars out there owned by owners who do not properly maintain and care for their cars as many of us do. Some are owned by people who primarily want to be 'seen' in one ............. where others consider themselves privileged stewards of these great machines.

Summary ...... some are well maintained and too many are not ..................... as we all have read many times on this forum ................ "there is nothing more expensive than a cheap Ferrari" ................. ;)

I said several years ago that there would quite soon be only a $5K difference between the 348 and 355 and everyone poo'd poo'd me off. The truth is the 355 is a repairs and maintenance HOG and you could spend half again your purchase price just keeping the thing on the road. And for what gain? Another 75hp? Hoopty doo - that still won't beat a new Nissan Maxima out of a light. About the only other thing the 355 had going for it was a more attractive posterior, and now there's a cheap 348 fix for even that. ;)

    +355 ....................... :D

.................. luckily we all know you wrote this in complete satire :) ............. the 355 as anyone who has been exposed to the looks and sound of one ............ knows it has mystical presence and powers beyond conscious understanding ........... full of intangibles .............. that can be had for a diminutive pile of cash ................. for every dollar or hour I spend on it ........... it gives back exponentially ................ with timeless and priceless experience ........................ :D !!!!!

That's funny....you mean like this? It's real....real big like 5ft tall...and full of the "happy" FAST gas all for Mr. 550. Do you think the 550 has a decent enough intake manifold to flow a wet mix of nitrous and fuel for a mild blast of gas and fuel without leaning out in specific cylinders? I hate to do all the work for direct injection. I'm thinking of just taking the baseball bat approach and dumping more fuel than needed to prevent leanout and maybe I'll run some EGT probes to make sure. I'm being lazy.

Oh...and the sky here is always rose colored.

From numbers I found Sy posted on another forum (not sure where he got them)

    348 355 360
    Total: 8,654 11,206 17,800
    Spiders: 1,090 3,714 7,565

    Total
    Delta to 348: +2,552 +9,146

    Spider
    Delta to 348 Spider: +2,624 +6,475

Just talking numbers, that roughly 2000 car difference really was more like 23.1% more for the total run, but just comparing spiders, the difference is interesting. There are 240.7% more 355 spiders produced, and 594% more 360 Spiders produced compared to the 348 Spider.

    Interesting stuff
