Fresh popcorn for everyone!
"The road to Hell is paved with good intention" Drama queen stuff aside, posting the nature of someone's (what should always be confidential) transaction on The Internet is about as wrong a move as anyone who accepts $$$ can make....
Private behind the scenes emails dont cut it....I think you owe the retail buying public a answer....in black and white...just like your VERY MISLEADING ad!
Nobody owes the retail buying public anything. People can look at this thread and decide if they would purchase a car from this company based on the information presented. Personally, I wouldn't buy a car at this point from either of the dealers embroiled in this nonsense. But then again I've always been loyal to local dealerships.
Perhaps you missed my point (or, then again, maybe I did not make it with sufficient clarity.) SCC and Cats are only responsible to their clients, not the general public at large. Both of them, Mr. Lyons through the outing of his less than honest advertisement, and Mr. Cats through his inability to let things be leading to his constantly exposing the shadier underside of his business, have merely proven to anyone paying attention here without an agenda that neither of them are particularly trustworthy; then again, this may be the one less than scrupulous deal among hundreds for either company. Either way, I don't think I would ever want to consider doing business with them. They confirm my preconceived bias against brokers. I have excellent relationships with both Ferrari dealerships and the Lamborghini dealer in my home town, having purchased new and used cars at all three. As for hiring, I have a pretty good job already, thank you. One that makes good use of my educational background and professional training.
Roy clearly made a mistake in posting customer info on the web and to his credit he recognized that mistake and tried to fix it. It seems that's the pattern though. That is, we're being treated to a series of expensive lessons in being a car dealer that most would prefer to keep private whereas Roy is willing/wants to keep public. Whether that is a good idea or not, I don't know; but I'm sure learning a lot about how dealers and customers can end up with a bad deal! Package these threads up and you might have an interesting short course on being a high-end car dealer.
Any transaction that requires personal info should be kept confidential if you expect anyone else who isn't completely reckless to ever do biz with you........
Lesson 1B: If you start 2 threads with the same topic name ("To tell or not to tell") and one of them is in a section that you have moderator control over, do most of your posting of "evidence" in that version of the thread. That way, if you post something that you'd like to quickly delete later, you can do that as a mod. It must have been painful during those hours waiting for a mod to delete documents you really want to delete asap.
Ya know..this is really nothing new. Being in the exotic industry for close to 10 years now, I have seen many many car deals such as this and a few even worse. I have been on the bad end of the stick a few times, being caught in the middle trying to make things right with the seller and the buyer, and it sucks the big one and it all comes down to one thing....money. Unfortunately, the exotic industry is full to the brim, with shady people looking to make a fast buck off of the "well to do". It is a disgusting area of the car business. I for one have pretty much gotten out of the exotic world, but do still service a few very good clients who understand the world of Ferrari and Lambo. These are people I will go to the ends of the earth for to keep them happy, and their pride and joy running in top condition..new people to the exotic world who call me will be referred to the dealer. What Roy has done here is to the benefit of us all. He has allowed people to see the other side of the exotic business..the ugly side. The side the people like me and him and many others have to deal with on an almost daily basis. How fast people can get screwed over by a slick talking sales person, and it happends everyday. This thread should be thought of as a lesson in how important it is FOR YOU THE BUYER of such automobiles need to be on your constant guard, and to do your own research on the car you are buying. DO NOT TAKE ANYBOIES WORD FOR ANYTHING IN THE EXOTIC CAR BUSINESS, because most times its a pile of crap they are feeding you. I'm not taking sides here. Roy has a great rep and from what I can see and what I have heard, he has more satisfied customers then not..that in itself is a very good indicator of what kind of person, and business he runs. The rest..I can't comment.
Gosh this HURTS me way deep I could care less who you buy your car from....as long as you are happy. know of at least three dealers in the same boat as me, with dealer B bad paint, rear end frame damage, non OEM intieror, but they refuse to come forward because they need to go on day to day with these deals..loose on one make it up on the other. BS in my book!!! WELL F that S******h i t...I speak my mind for all of us...and if it makes you never think of me as a GOOD Dealer, no probem.. at the least I make you not buy from a BAD Dealer. I would rather have no money in my till than KNOW good money went in a bad TILL...........that is called PROUD of myself..not always the right thing on these boards...but the right thing for making me walk with my head up and a big smile.. Yep that simple.............forget the buck lets go back to I WAS WRONG and let me make it right so you THE CUSTOMER IS H A P P Y...no matter what it takes!! AND sorry but screw the other Dealers that want to sweep it under the rug and it will be OK in the next DEAL...SHAME ON YOU for not serving ALL OF US!!
Roy, I BASICALLY think you are not a BAD person and quite PROBABLY less harmful then FLY paper, but SOMETIMES your head may BE in the WRONG place. I know you TAKE me with a grain of SALT, but that is OKAY with me.
GREAT POST AND ITS TOO BAD EVERYONE DOESNT FEEL THIS WAY! AND NO RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE QUESTION....SCC AVOIDS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION ABOVE! I ALSO FIND IT ODD OTHERS DONT WANT TO KNOW THE ANSWER TO BAKYS QUESTION....IT SEEMS VERY VALID....TAKE ROY OUT OF THE PICTURE....AND TAKE THIS THREAD OUT OF THE PICTURE.....IF I BOUGHT THIS CAR BASED ON THEIR ADD I PERSONALLY WOULD BE IRATE! WHY? BECAUSE THEY LIED AND MISLEAD THE PUBLIC....I WONDER HOW MANY OF THE CARS ON THEIR WEBSITE LOOK LIKE THE YELLOW 6.0?
I take on new clients only if they understand that no matter how bright, how savvy and how educated they feel they are, they are smart, bright and savvy enough to seek third party input. I communicate daily with Buyers who will read your post, this thread, my post and still not seek third party or additional, professional assistance in their purchases. Why? Pride. Like you, tbakowsky, I limit myself to the truly smart, bright and educated.
