f355 nashville 24 hour ban. I understand tempers are rising here, but you still can't fabricate a post that makes another member here, or a sponsor, look like a liar. Post facts, not fiction, one and all. Dave
Nope, just a request not to totally fabricate stuff form someone's post by editing the living **** out of it.
While it may have been in your deal folder, this shows that the CarFax dated 8/20/08 was never presented to Cats Exotics. What was the date your dealer bought the car? Who did the dealer buy the car from?
Rob: I think not. I've just gone through the read, and frankly from what I read, I'd never do business with Richard, ever. Not because I think he's dishonest, because he probably isn't. He most surely is a sharp dealer, knows the law, knows exactly how far he can go, and he does when he believes it necessary. Bottom line, in his world, you'll never know if you got screwed or not until you've really been screwed. I don't do business with those types of people, and I suspect more than a few people don't either. This is my personal opinion, and isn't a statement of fact, just my humble opinion. Art
Wow I came to a similar conclussion but about the opposite dealer. Up until this SCC seemed to be fine but even his current ads on Ebay scare me now. The use of that word "pristene" in all his ads, sounds ominous. Eric Forget what i said. He edited out "Roy" and replaced it with "Richard" Eric
I'll bet my Sunday Easter bonnet you already have done business with a sharp dealer and didn't know it. IME, which goes back over 40 years of motorcar, racing and other motor powered transports (boats, planes, etc.) at some point in time a Dealer has practiced Caveat Emptor. Some are out and out crooks yet uncaught, some are crooks convicted, most are "sharp" by the definition I am using here (my def not yours Art). "Sharp" as in plausibly deniable or they know what can be hidden or how to hide it or how to mix-match paperwork, changing the deal like magicians from the initial contact to final paperwork signing. It's the nature of the business like painters, ever see one who didn't have paint on him? The ones I find particularly fun to catch are the "I didn't know" Dealer. Who probably made a concerted effort not to know. These are the Dealers who claim to have good reputations. IME, when they get find out they have been had, they do make good. Best to find out the facts on the car and not have to place yourself in troubles way in the first place. Suggestion: When purchasing a used car from anyone, ask them to show you their due diligence when they purchased it. By that alone you can glean a ton.... about them and the car.
You may be right, but most certainly not recently. As I've gotten older, and a little more wise, I take a lot more care when buying cars. I haven't bought a used car from a dealer for a while. The last one was the 360, and I was given a great deal, and they took it back in trade on my 430 at a decent price. It pays to do business with friends and people that know you'll come back if they're straight with you. Art
you have presented zero to support your claim. forward to me, VIA PM, your "evidence" and I'll reconsider, until then, leave it off of fchat. DM
The words fabricate a post refers to a "misquote" attributed to someone else - on your post - which caused the ban. Not any other quote on the post in question. Please, do not insult anyone and everyone's intelligence, again.
"I think not. I've just gone through the read, and frankly from what I read, I'd never do business with Richard, ever." I dont think i would either, but I have bought a car through Jim Lyons and he was a stand up guy, and I am only speaking of actual experience, of which I dont see anyone here having. I would buy a car from Roy as well and probably will in the future. I did do diligence before buying which included a Carfax, service history and inspection. Lots of theory and conjecture going on here...
After skimming through this topic it seems strange that any dealer purchasing a car would not run a carfax. I run carfax's or similar service on every car when the time is appropriate. The Offer is , "subject to" due dilligence. If the price is way low for the market, I immediately run a carfax, so i don't look like a dumbass when presenting the car to a client. There's always a reason if the car is lower than normal wholesale or retail{This could be high miles, poor color combo, needs servicing, accident history, title issues, or mileage disrpencies -or a combination of these factors}. Many cars are sold without full disclosure, but the main word is "Sold". I believe both dealers were well aware of the circumstances surrounding the actual "sale" between themselves. Ignorance should no longer be a viable excuse, although it has been working for years. I am in the exotic car business, and while these may be banning comments it is my own personal view. I will do business with Jim Lyons, but I refrain from doing business with Cats. This is a personal choice and I have just voiced an opinion., so I hope not to be banned. BTW-The sheer number of sales that the Sports car company does is staggering with so few complaints.
Your skimming missed the part where Roy says he did pull a carfax and the salvage title was not on it at the time. If you've bought a car from Jim before, was it described as 'pristine' and matched the description or did it look like that 6.0?
I don't see how voicing your opinion could be a bannable offense. Especially when done in a respectful manner, such as this.
I read that part saying he did pull a carfax. I have been doing carfaxs for many years and those items just don't "pop" onto a car fax. I also know I save all my carfax's or "autochecks" and place them in a computer file or folder for later use. It would seem this procedure would help Roy in his case. Jim seemed to have the carfax report. Part of buying a car from a dealer is that they have done their due dilligence purchasing the vehicle, especially after going through this scenerio every few months. I am not saying that Roy does not have many good cars he represents. Due to past circumstances, I would be much more inclined to buy a car that he is representing, rather than one he bought with his own money. Agreed, "Pristine" was definitely not the right choice of words. Although, {in my opinion}, a perspective buyer was probably told these facts by Sports car company, or the car would have been sold at 159,500 and not been wholesaled. The bottom line is the car was sold to another dealer for quite a bit back of market who apparently is either covering up something or proving he did not due his research on the car. Either way, it was poor business on his part. For someone who claims to be very knowledgable about exotics{especially Lamborghini}, and has been through very similar situations in the past, it just doesn't make sense. If there was any blemish on a carfax, wouldn't you investigate why?
Thanks for the comments Brian. I have no ill will with Brian. We did not see eye to eye on our first deal many years back and it has more or less stayed that way. I can say with out hesitation I would have no problem buying a car that Brian represents and he has always been up front with us and I regard him as very reputable. A few points that Brian I think your missing. I did pull the car fax AND it did not have the "Salvage Title" on at the time of sale..ONLY a "Notation" which when asked, as I stated prior we were told the Father Son Stolen car deal..which CHP and DMV have in their possession. A few days later the "salvage" did come up on the CarFax...and CarFax answer was as I stated prior. You and I both know CarFax does quite often have changes made when documenmtation is given them as well as delete bad info until it can be shown to them. Just because a car is offered wholesale, just as they offered to you does not mean we need to be "thinking" something is up, what is he hiding...in todays market there is no real price right now. I am getting cars just as cost effective as you and also selling them just as cost effective to remain in business. The point is, regardless of hindsight and what I could or could not have done..had this been you, your name Roy for 2 seconds...not Brian and doing things Brian way...would you think this type of action is correct..go one further...take us all out of it..would you have sold this car described as it was to a customer of yours.?
But this is exactly the point. The story so far was that the carfax that Jim had was old and not disclosed to Roy and when Roy pulled his carfax the salvage issue was suppressed. -mick
"If you've bought a car from Jim before, was it described as 'pristine' and matched the description or did it look like that 6.0?" I dont remember if the description was pristine, and it did match the description and was as represented...and I got in it and drove it 800 miles home, no problems...
