The video is in Portuguese, but you can clearly see how the F1 car is simply sitting there abandoned! It was Rubens Barrichello first car, even though Rubens was never a champion this car should be somewhere in a Museum or in a nice garage...it's a shame the car is in that situation! Unbelievable! :(

A little dusty, but still I doubt this is abandoned....it's the cleanest looking "barn-find" I've ever seen

I would guess its owned by some drug lord. They have enough $$ to run a F1 team without any sponsership.

I don't speak Portuguese, but didn't the guy say at the beginning of the interview this used to be once Colin Chapman's home? Not so surprising to find an old F1 in the garage. The fact that you don't see people around doesn't mean it is deserted.

I know a small garage place in the surroundings of Indianapolis that is filled with race cars including a F1. It's a storage/trading place and if I'd go there Indy style (pun intended), I could pull off a similar video.

Obviously a plant for this guy's film. The car cover was brand new and the car was clean. Bet it wasn't there the day before.

I'm Brazilian. The guy received a tip from the locals that this car was there. He went to investigate, and found the first Jordan driven by Rubens Barichello, known in Brazil as "Rubinho".
The car has the FIA Homologation "sticker" showing chassis 05/92. It is the real thing. It has no gauges or instrumentation (stolen or removed). The guy says the car was "given" to Rubinho and sold later changing hands several times.
His mention of "Collin Chapman" was purely related to the building/ castle looking house behind him. Not related to the car.
Nobody knows why and how it ended up there.
    That's about it.

As the biggest Rubens fan in North America, I will be glad to pay them every coin in my piggy bank to bring that car here to the States, clean it up and put it in a museum.

I have a signed picture of RB and Eddie Jordan on my wall I am looking at right now from his "First Podium" and it would look great right above the car...:)

Since you guys who speak Port. say it isn't abandoned, what the heck is someone doing with it there anyway??? Why isn't it in a motorsport museum down there?

I would do the same thing if I could, clean that car and put it in a museum! I'm also a huge Rubens Barrichello fan! My point is that it deserves a better place to stay. I speak Portuguese and as "11506apollo" said the reporter was told by local people about this F1 car sitting there. The interesting thing is that, the car was given to Rubens and sold to other people and the actual owner is unknown...and nobody has any clue how that car got there! It should be at least in Interlagos, Sao Paulo or a museum in North America or Europe.

That has to be a joke - I mean it's sending up Indiana Jones, and the darn car looks like it's ready to race.

I don't know if it is or isn't abandoned...if it is, I'd be shocked - why not just wheel it out of there?

Yea, if that car was abandoned those tires wouldn't be inflated. Race tire tend to be fairly porous and if left they'd all be flat. When we ran Formal Atlantics we'd always air up the tires first thing in the morning as they could loose a pound or two overnight.

    My comments:

    1) ESPN "Brazil" is still getting its legs under it

    2) This piece isn't in danger of getting confused with an episode of "Victory by Design"

    3) The right-side mirror has been replaced, implying this car has seen some post-F1 action. And as someone mentioned, the tires are inflated

Otherwise, this is a mid-grade F1 car that pretty much ended up where it should have. It would be a fun track toy, but nothing special.

Whether you like Rubens or not, that is a F1 car. In my opinion F1 cars don't deserve to be in that condition...

What surprises me the most, is that someone as rich as Rubens certainly is, sells such a precious gift (given to him by Eddie Jordan)...
Lets not forget it was his first F1 car (I don´t know if he has more F1 cars, but this one should be special to him).
I must say that I was never a Rubens fan.

I wouldn't trust 16 year old carbon fiber at any speed. That car should be on a wall in Rubens home. Shame on him for selling.

    Wow, I guess we won't see any 288 GTO, F40, F50, 333SPs driving anymore.

Any owner of those cars care to comment?

PS: I was perfectly fine in the ex-Hill Arrows. Thank you very much.
