Definitely. Dead Guy was one of the first "specialty" beers I tried in college when I began drinkin' "outside the box".

Arrogant Bastard, Black and Tans (before I liked Guiness and Bass by themselves), Warsteiner, some New Beligums, and La Fin du Mond. Those are what I remember off the top of my head.

There's a local mico-brewery in Louisiana called Abita Brewery. They put out some good ones. Some beers are produced year round, others are seasonal. If you can get your hands on some you should try it. "Abita Amber, Turbo dog, purple haze, just to name a few.

Can anyone recommend a raspberry wheat beer? I was partial to Naked Aspen but they're gone. Thinking of trying Harpoon's UFO Raspberry Hefeweizen if I can find it locally.

edit: Hmm, reviews of the UFO not that great...

I think Abita purple haze is a rasberry wheat beer, It is a Louisiana micro brew that is real good.

Before, Katrina hit I had made an extra side by side refrig/freezer a feg cooler w/a beer tap. I usually kept purple haze or one of Abita Brewery's seasonal beers on tap.
I not a big draft fan for domestics, but these beers are good on tap. It is a must to keep the lines clean to avoid nasty after taste.

Here is the web address for Abita beer. This should help in locating a distributor. www.abita.com

I like Purple Haze. I do feel it tastes far better on tap though.

I think it because you get all the goodness of the beer. there's no filter on the keg so you get all the little pieces of rasberry that made it through the filtration process at the plant. I agree that is one beer that is better on tap.

I think almost all beers are better on tap than bottled or canned.

Don't laugh at me, but last I was in Gainesville I hit a college dive and had a couple PBR's on draft. It's hell in a can but man it's good on tap.

Sooo Wegmans has been hiding a secret from me..... they have quite a selection of beers. I'm drinking a purple haze right now and really diggin' it. Very smooth and nice and the raspberry isn't overpowering (it is in Harpoons weizen). Turbo dog and amber opinions soon ;)

These past 2 weeks have been heaven. I've had Pliny the Elder, Hopslam (drinking now), Nugget Nectar (have a case in my fridge) and so much more. Mostly because of luck. I'll write a story when i have some time
