Sad to hear. But you should have done the trip to Germany anyway. There are plenty of Ferrari dealers around.
The Ad is also removed from mobile.de ?! It´s either sold or the seller got cold feet.. which i would guess.
Thank you, Carlo...! LOL, I'm so transparent... But there is also an engine number in the warranty card/service booklet - which is depicted in that image...!
Selling it for his "friend"?! Yea, sure, I would let friends borrow my $250k+ car for months at a time AND be difficult to get in touch with if the person that had the car needed to get hold of me... Yea, and I am married to Shania Twain... Yea, yea, that's the ticket... Yea, and we sleep in the same bed... yea, yea! Give me a freaking break, that whole deal was F-ed up from the get go. They didn't even bother to vacuum the drivers side floor of the car before posting the for sale pic. Frankly Carlo, you will be happier in the long run NOT getting that car! Good luck on your continued hunt! James
@ NNO: I have sent you the requested documents. @ Pav: I really appreciate your offer but it isn't needed at the moment. @ Pcar fan: The "friend" who was (is?) selling the car for the owner was apparently also the owner of a second-hand luxury car dealership. To be honest I don't want to think about this whole story anymore. Too sad... BTW...we went for plan B. We got another car yesterday in Italy. Put down a deposit and signed the contract. We should have the car in two weeks as it has to be removed from leasing and a couple of bureaucratic procedures need to be completed. So this time things should go as planned. And no...it isn't a 599...but still a very nice car (albeit not quite as blood stirring). It isn't an F-car either. We'll still be getting the 599 but we'll wait until the summer when prices will probably be much lower and there will be a better variety of cars. From lessons learned here, I prefer not give any more details of the car we got until it's in the garage. I think it will be a great stable mate for the 599 as the two sports cars have different spirits and uses. I'll keep you updated. Carlo
What other car could have possibly make you walk away from a 599? Looking forward to find out what it is. Anyway ... best of luck with it. Cheers, M
Not at all. It did not make us walk away from a 599. In fact the 599 remains the main goal. It was more of a rational consideration.
I thinks it's time to bring this thread back to life. We went back on the hunt this summer, as I said we would after failing to buy the German car. We have been looking at 599s for the past couple of months and finally made it. I did, however, learn a lesson from this thread: don't say you'll be getting a car until contracts are signed. It's quite funny really. We have been doing A LOT traveling back and of forth looking at 599s in Italy only to find the right car here in Monaco a couple of kilometres from our home We saw the cars advert this morning, went to see the it 10 minutes later and closed the deal in the next 10 minutes. Contracts have been signed and the deal is closed and therefore I think it's safe to make the announcement this time. The moment I saw it I knew she was the one. The car is in impeccable shape the color combo is the way I would have wanted it to be. We'll pick-up the 599 at some point next week as it has to be serviced and we're also having parking sensors installed on the car. We also traded in our 997 Carrera 4S in the deal (its already sitting in their showroom). We only had it for a few months, but I must say I will carry very fond memories of the Pcar. At the moment I really don't know what to say. I wish my proficiency in the English language (or any language for that matter) was sufficient to express my joy and excitement for the coronation of this dream. Once the car is delivered I'll open a thread with plenty of pics/impressions. Trips to the "sacred grounds" (Maranello) and then Route Napoleon are defensively high on the to-do list Here are the dealers pics of the car. It's Rosso Corsa over Cuoio. A red, V12, 2 seat Grand Tourer...just the way I would have dreamt it Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
How many times have you seen it around town? Funny. I was looking all over the country for a 550 and ended up getting one through an out of state broker, repping a car that belonged to my next door neighbor! I had seen/heard it many, many times and always liked it. Enjoy!
Looks to be well worth the wait. Great looking seats; a nice change from the usual daytona design. Enjoy your prancing horse! CH
Thanks for the kind words everyone I think I've seen a couple of times (not many 599s with chrome wheels) but it's hard to say as I see several 599s on a daily basis here in Monaco. Apparently the car belonged to a famous Ferrari collector here in Monaco. I've been told he owns a whole floor of a public parking with over 25 Fcars (mostly classics) and traded-in the 599 for a black F40 LM. The fact that the 599 was in the hands of a car enthusiast can clearly be seen. With 13000km (8K miles) it's in better (perfect actually) shape than another red 599 with 2K miles that we were about to buy in Turin (Italy) last week. Hehe...that's very cool. Strange world isn't it? Yes indeed. We are actually paying 5000 Euros more than the German car...but it has 8K miles instead of 24K and it's 6 months newer. It's also prettier IMO as I prefer cuoio (natural leather color) to the usual beige (we already had several cars with beige interiors). So it was definitely worth waiting...
Carlo, glad to see you finally found your dream 599. She looks great and you live in the perfect area to go play with it. Looking forward to seeing more pictures and reading about your impressions. Enjoy and congratulations. M
I thought in Monaco, you could find 599s on nearly every street corner that people abandoned out of boredom?
What an epic chain of events... Regardless, thats a great car, enjoy it and lets see some more pics! Cheers.
