I'm not sure when they are moving into the new building, but if it's within the next 30-60 days, I would fly the flag every day.
What are they gonna do about it? Evict them? Don earned the right to fly the flag. I support him 110% on this one.

My favorite part is that the landlord wants to "keep the building looking nice," so he wants the flag taken down.

Just installed a 50' flagpole in a 27K SF office project we own and it was difficult to get approved...go figure? Several federal requirements - flag has to have light on it after dark and if not, it needs to be taken down at dusk. All other federal holidays need to be observed. It's a Tenant expense in our case and the Tenant's were more than happy to oblige. However, sometimes cost becomes an issue [electricity and manpower]. Outside of these items, I couldn't see a reason why you wouldn't want to fly it....

    Flag rules: http://www.ushistory.org/BETSY/flagcode.htm

    Cheers!

Approved by who? If you own the property california civil code 1353.5 affords you the protection to fly an American flag (according to protocol) without obstruction. Unfortunately this does not transfer to the benefit of a renter as per the original post in this thread.

    Edited to state "American Flag".

Wish I had known that when we applied. We had to go through city planning & building department and it wasn't just a quick and easy "over-the-counter" process.
