Well you got me on this one. That was totally new to me. If they did it today it would be Lil' Kim singing in a G string.
Cars were cheap back then. In 1957, $14,000 is approximately $105,000 today (if my calculations are correct) Unless it was used.... She should get a PPI
Off topic - Jim, my dad's house in Massapequa Park cost $13,990 in '55; its worth $400,000 today. I think your calc might need a new battery ;-)
+1,000... But anyways do you see the comment on the page? "They had Ferrari's back then?" Hahah some people...
In case anyone is wondering, the movie is "Never Steal Anything Small" staring James Cagney and Shirley Jones, 1959. Not in print on DVD - just a few old VHS used copies floating around. Jedi
Regarding inflation, see attached image from the Inflation Calculator (which only goes up to 2007 right now), $14,000 in 19559 is $98,557 in 2007 dollars. Remember that things like houses don't play the normal inflation rules. Or collectible cars or anything that goes beyond 'intrinsic value' Jedi Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't know my old Fcars very well, what is that and what is it worth today? Nice clip, great seeing those old cars. RMX
I LOVED THAT VIDEO!!!! I was LOL!!!! Talk about capturing the indescribable. This is 1959---"I want a car that wins races"...its handbuilt This video harks back to a time when Ferrari was building its reputation on winning...before Ferrari licensing, before Miami Vice and Tom Selleck. When people bought the cars simply because it was something truly special...before it became 1980's social jewelry for people with more money than brains. I am too young to have known that time..,but G*d I love this marque!
Yep - Mrs. Partridge indeed. "Travelin' along there's a song that we're singin' - C'mon get HAPPY!" Jedi
Don't knock Sonny Crockett. Those brave men in vice put their lives on the line. Best documentary made, IMO.
Yes, Shirley Jones had second billing. But Cara Williams is Winnipeg in the video. Here's another Shirley of Interest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brdni8pD6uw
I'm always confused by comments like this. I loved the video! I've never seen it, and I'm guessing many others haven't either. I would not have known to search for it. When I read comments like this, it makes me hesitant to share something with the community that I think might be interesting. Just my thoughts. -DrC
