    almost there.
The past days I worked on the engine again.
The heads are finished now, the waterpump and manifolds are on it also.
Last job will be the distribution stuff and than finally some smaller parts like alternator and starter.

I'm getting closer to the point putting it back in!
    YESSS!

I don't know the factory color name for it. I've seen it on a few other cars like the 456 and the 550.

It looks like Verde Scuro, perhaps even a bit darker...

I am pretty sure its Verde Scuro. Its color changes a bit depending on the lighting. I've seen this car twice at the Tutto Italiano, in Brookline, Massachusetts. Here is a picture of it from August 2006. It seemed to be a love it or hate it car, some people thought it looked great, others said..."Yuck, a green Ferrari." I think the interior really compliments the car nicely. Its tan with dark brown dashboard, door pulls and map pockets, and dark brown carpeting (rather than the usual tan carpeting).

are not stock on the european cars. The picture surely show a eurocar with them, but probably the car is in the states somewere and the reflectors are put on after.
(Or the car spend some time in the states before shipped back to Europe)

In Europe nowaday there are almost more cars WITH side reflectors than without, probably due to the huge amount of car imported fron the States the past years....
But sorry to say i do agree with Rod, i do'n't like them either

Spot on Steven.... It must be an imported euro version and hence they need to adhere to the US laws... They just looks so clumsy on such a beautiful looking car.

Would they get a big fine in the US for not having them fitted?

I went back and looked at the euro cars in this post and I agree that the US side marker lights detract from the beauty. Oh well I guess that the price of US regulations.

    Hi Rod,

Physically they could be removed. There was an article in Forza a few issues ago about a guy that restored a 246GTS and in the process he removed the side markers, filled in the holes and had the car repainted. But unless you are repainting the car anyway, I can't imagine too many owners would want to deal with removing them, filling in the holes, and then painting what was filled in. Not to mention, are car can only be totally original once from from the factory. Maybe todays paint methods are better but I'd like to hang on to my original paint etc as long as possible. To be honest I'm so used to the side markers that they don't bother me at all, but I can see it would be cleaner looking without them.

As for fines, the problem is that many if not all states in the US have safety inspections either every year or every 2 years. You have to have the side markers to pass the inspection, at least in the states I've lived in. If your car passes the safety inspection (and emissions testing if necessary) you are issued a sticker that goes on your windshield. If your car does not pass the inspection you generally have 30 days to have the vehicle repaired so that it is compliant with the safety regulations and until then you cannot get a valid inspection sticker. Without a valid inspection sticker your vehicle can be ticketed by the police. Its just not worth the hassel, especially since the police tend to pay enough attention to these vehicles even when they are complying with all trafic laws.

    Best regards,
    Dino

Do you have a VIN for that Verde Scurro car? It is a late one and the last GTB imported to the US is Verde Scurro.

Just a bit more info on that car, its an '89 that was originally sold by Autohaus in Cohasset, Massachusetts (which has not been a Ferrari dealer in more than a decade and may no longer be in business). I saw that car at the 2005 and 2006 Tutto Italiano in Massachusetts. If you look at my photo above there was a yellow 355 between my red GTS and his Verde Scurro GTB. According to the owner the car has a terrible paintwork compared to even other Ferraris of that period. The owner joked that his car must have been painted in a hurry on a Friday afternoon before the employees left for the weekend. I only briefly looked at the car and did not notice anything particularly bad about the paint, but maybe I did not look closely enough. The interior of that car is a beautiful combination of tan and dark brown. It was also my understanding that the car took a very long time to sell...most likely as its not resale red or black. I don't know if when he said it took a long time to sell he was speaking of when Autohaus sold it or BSC. I have not seen the car since 2006 but it is a very interesting car.

    Best regards,
    Dino
