Please can you see also, the FERRARI by VIGNALE by Marcel Massini page 82/83 about 083S ; "19/03/1952 Raced at buenos aires 17 october-race,race N°33 " ( see Road and Track 8-1952 page 37) errare humanum est ! to make a mistake is human !
Guy, could you also have a look at Ferrari Argentina pages 46 thru 50. As a coincidence in Argentina 0071S's engine cylinder capacity was enlarged to 2300cc whereby the engine was more like a 195 than a 166 engine. There is now no doubt the car was 071S. The book of Marcel dates from 1993 whereas the Ferrari Argentina book was printed 15 years later. The foreword in the Argentina book is done by Marcel himself making complements to the authors for their painstakingly Ferrari research in Argentina for many years. So I think beyond reasonable doubt Menditeguy drove 0071S and not 0083S.
No doubt at all Menditeguy drove 0071S. I have paperwork for that car, and is currently owned by a friend of mine. Thanks Boudewijn for your words on our book. Regards. Cris.-
Cris,if you wrote this book ,have you also 083S race paperwork ??? Is this 083S Car mentioned in the book ? Many thanks. Guy
HI I have a large file going on this car since its discovery. It would be great to have some pictures of this engine and the process of installing it in 0117.More info on the clutch, gearbox, and drive shaft being used would also be nice. Thanks. just one man's opinion tongascrew
I have taken this morning no less twenty photos but unfortunately my credit photo to FC is finish,I cannot post other pics. I am asking to me when I will found a Gearbox if I place 083S in 0117S or if I conserve the 250 GTE in 0117S , my decision is not still take. What do you think about this, what do you do ?
Interesting situation.I would first contact the Ferrari Classiche program. If you have the $$$ or Euros they may be able to fabricate the correct box for 083. You can try Ton Shaughnessy or Glickenhaus[?] [Napolis on Ferrarichat} who know a lot about the mechanics of these cars and will have good advice on all aspects of these early cars.If all else fails my thought would be to put the 250 package in the car so you can drive it and keep 083.I am sure 083 probably needs some restoration/rebuilding which will be money well spent and you can continue the search for the right box and other original type parts to go with 083 which can be installed later or just kept on the side as part of the overall package of the car. I am also sure Marcel Massini whould have some good ideas. just one man's opinion tongascrew
Also if you could mail copies of your pictures that would be very nice. If so let me know at [email protected] and I will e-mail you my address. Thanks tongascrew
Would they actually do that without the 'core' of the original gearbox being present? Are they really making copies of parts and number them, risking that there may be, in this case, 2 gearboxes with matching external numbers on them? (Even if one would have a Classiche stamping on it as well) The number on that box would be, in such a case, a worthless accessoire. If the above applies, there are also other parties able to manufacture a gearbox, presumably much more cost-effective than Classiche. I'd wait it out until a suitable gearbox pops up somewhere, or even just a bell-housing and gearbox casing; a needle in a haystack, but so was the engine.

Jack,we are all right,I think also waiting a period Gearbox, and yes it is a needle in a haystack but the engine was also difficult to find,I can hope !
