Am I the only one who thinks Keanu Reeves was great in the Matrix? Can't imagine anyone else being Neo!

Another really incredible talented guy to me is Peter Stromare; everything from being a REALLY bad guy (Satan) to over the top stereotype comic delivery in the VW commercials.

If we are talking about actual character actors and not leading men...

Lance Hendrikson and Terry O'Quinn are at the top of my list.

Not the only one. He was perfect for the role and I can’t imagine anyone else playing the part either. The first film was incredible but the rest were nothing more than money machines, no artistic value what so ever. Except, of course, for gamers who can't relate to anything that isn't CGI.

This is what I had always thought character actors were also. Making a living out of supporting roles.

Brian Dennehy is one I've always liked too.

Keanu Reeves almost ruins Bram Stoker's Dracula
But I enjoyed him as a pompous hotshot lawyer in Devil's Advocate
    .
    .
I didn't like Daniel Day Lewis in The Last of the Mohicans
But as Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York he was fantastic

Brad Pitt nails most of his roles...................Fight Club, Snatch. People always mention his other obvious attributes, but I like him as an actor. He can play any type of character.

Leonardo Dicaprio to me is a fine actor but sometimes doesn't suite his roles. Someone already mentioned The Avaitor. Gangs of New York also comes to mind. Even Titanic, I remember 1st watching him thinking "hmmmm I don't know if I like him in this movie" As time goes on and I've probably seen it a 1/2 dozen times, I can't really imagine anyone else though.

He was good in that because the role fit his flat, monotone acting (non-) range. Josh Hartnett would have been another excellent choice.
