Ok, I didn't know where else to post this, but this seems alright.

My older sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law, both 26yrs old, are getting married in early May, and I want to surprise them with an amazing gift for their wedding. I grew up with the guy, and my sister and I are very close so going all out would not be out of the question to me. Some facts about them,

She's:trying to get accepted to dental school, just likes having a good time and being goofy, loves her family very much, doesnt have much passion for any particular thing, but has a good time with just about anything, has a sincere desire to live the rich life.

He's: finishing medical school, has a true passion for exotics and sports/luxury vehicles, not into sports, dorky, intelligent and doesnt put up with bull**** or pointless stuff, and really has a desire for the "rich" life.

Both: are lazy, but are willing to work through what is necessary at least to get to where they want to get to. religious muslims,( IE: dont drink, smoke, both virgins, etc.. )

I was thinking of something along the lines of a 1 day racing course somewhere nice, or maybe a sweet house gift I cant think of, but I really want some suggestions if you guys have them, I would love any ideas, thanks a bunch in advance.

Know any good cruises out of FL or the East Coast? For their honeymoon they are going on 2months of vacationing everywhere between London and Lebanon, I figure they will be tired of all the traveling after that.

if you want to go the gag route, here's what i'm doing for my sister and her fiance for their wedding: they (as a joke, to see if the scanner would accept them) put peeps (yes, the marshmallow things) on their wedding registry, of course, i'm buying those for them. they also have towels, i'm getting them 1 wash rag, so peeps and 1 wash rag, that will be their gift from me.

yes - i am getting them something for a real gift, but i'm not sure what yet.

I'm surprised I'm not the only one with a sister who is soon to be married and in the same dilemma as myself in regards to a gift haha. I thought maybe a day out just taking them to places and being their credit card but i want that to be a last resort if possible.

My step sister is getting married in march, her and her fiance are about 25,26. I too am trying to decide gift ideas. Ask your parents or them if they have a list from some store, i believe that what my sis is doing, so thats probably what ill get them, something off their list. good luck

haha, no.. Shes done well in school, and is quite the academic hustler.

And to all of you who are belittling the lasting potential of my sister's marriage, its disgusting to joke that, and I really don't appreciate it.

How about some cooking classes. :D May sound bad, but I think it's worth it, if she likes living the rich life, you can eat rich for cheap.

Back on track here...Important lesson to buying a wedding gift: Regardless of who it's for (friend, family, acquaintance, etc.) you're not buying a gift for them, you're buying a gift for her. If you're looking to hit a homerun but insist on not using their registry, you have to really bust yourself to find something right. One option, if you're looking to spend a lot, is to get them their entire set of china or crystal or silver. Trust me--it will provide big "wow" factor and make her happy, which in turn will make him happy. Registries seem dull to the gift givers, but remember that the couple picked the shi..., er "stuff", out for a reason.

I think we can all say whatever makes her happy, WILL make him happy.

Weddings are for HER, NOT for HIM, IMHO.
