would like to hear from one of the mods
That was a REALLY stupid thing that the mods did. He has been doing since I was first on here. It has to be for something else. Ban Roy, not T360!
Read this post again if you believed that T360 shouldn't have been banned, he was not saying anything in this thread but he was stalking members of the opposite party. This thread just need to be closed.
Looking back at my post I see that I was a bit unclear on what I meant. I think that he definitely should have been banned for a little while for stalking Roy, but it was the perma-ban that was a bit excessive.
I didn't ban him. But I did warn him, more than once, to stop stalking Roy. There's a huge difference between disagreeing with a guy, and stalking him from thread to thread continually harassing him. Stalking is trolling. Trolling is bannable. If you are warned on multiple occasions that a continued behavior here will lead to your being banned, and you continue that behavior, you'll get banned. Will you be surprised? I don't think titanium360 was. Failure to heed notice from a moderator, or in this case moderators, has consequences. Titanium found that out. DM
WTF is trolling? I read that other thread and cant imagine that pointing out innacuracies is something that would be considered a bad thing. Wouldnt you want someone pointing out a curious history of a car of you were about to plunk down a couple hundred grand. I was looking to buy my car last year and someone saved me from making a 150k mistake. Thank god that guy was around. Then again it was on another forum so I guess thats allowed there. Amante
so is this so called "continued behavior" clearly explained in the rule book? is there a rule book? or judegment of behavior is entirely up to the interpretation of a moderator?
dood i was once banned for referring a moderator as "***". and no, its not profanity masked by censor software to show up as "***", it simply the symbol "*" typed 3 times. that moderator's name was 3 letters long, and he was such as *****, seeing his real name made me sick so i referred him as "***", he banned me. oh and another time i was banned for simply asking a question about some red stuff flapping in the wind, that somehow was not allowed either.
Trolling is a verb. Here's the definition of a troll: "An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion." stalking or cyber bullying could also come into play. "Cyber-bullying involves the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behaviour by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others." In this instance Titanium360 had been warned SEVERAL times to take his issues private. That to continue to harass would result in his being banned. rules are here http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/rules.php? You agreed to abide by them when you signed up.
Calling a moderator a ***** is not gonna get you far here. If you have an issue with ***, why not take it up with him privately? Oh, can't send a PM to ***, gonna have to use his real ID. DM
so calling a non-mod ***** is ok?? btw i didn't verbally call him a *****, i said i see him as one. his name is vik and id is ghost, who was a former ny tri-state moderator that scored a whooping 31% approval rate by fellow members.
i am sorry but i tend to disagree with you. i did not see any irrelevant or off-topic message on the Scud thread what so ever. he basicly answered a members question as to why no vin number was posted? where do you see any inflammatory remark. unless calling a broker a broker is inflammatory , then that's a different issue all by itself. i also have another question which i would like answered please? if Catsexotic was not a sponsor would your decision to ban or actions would have been different? thanks
thats vague. its all up to moderator for interpretation. there are many times such rules were broken but no action was taken.
I'll repeat myself for those who missed it. I DIDN'T BAN THIS GUY.. I have warned him in the past not to stalk Roy. DM
Nope, that's not ok either. but, if you're standing on a street corner having a conversation with four or five guys, and it gets a little heated, and a cop walks over. Do you think it's gonna be better to keep the ***** comment to yourself, or to call the cop a ***** for asking you to settle down a little? Later, you're chatting again, and you call your conversant a *****, the cop comes back and says, "Knock that off in public" and you call him a *****, think it's gonna go well for you? See what I'm saying is if you call a person you've never met on an internet forum a *****, lots of folks see it, maybe even a moderator. That moderator asks you to tone it down, you call him a *****, or say that he exhibits b-bag like behavior, it's gonna get your tit in a wringer, more so than if you just call a passer by a *****. It's a matter of degree of stupidity, I think. DM
ok i just read the thread it was WAX that banned him for calling catsexotics a middle man. does not he broker cars as well?
Yes. I read that 5 yrs ago, and I just read it again. I will be happy to point you to some older threads where members clearly violated the rules but no action was taken, if you would actually do something about it, otherwise no point to waste both our time. You lost me. As I said, I never called him or anyone a *****. Therefore as interesting as your analogy is, it does not apply here. On the side note, with your example, I would think the cop would tell everyone to settle down, not just particularly targeting one person. that was not the case with ***'s moderating.
Moderators on online forums frequently are either a) easy going and understanding.. and allow heated discussion to occur and allow some spice and interesting dialogue once n awhile or b) temp ban or ban at the absolute drop of a hat for any reason they choose depending on their mood or to protect a sponsor.. from my experience ferrarichat falls into category b, as well as some other car forums.. not the end of the world.. there are benefits to both types of forums.. Ferrarichat just happens to be in category B that is all *shrug*
+2 I've seen so many forums in the past which start out small with enthusiastic members and end up a commerical business with Nazi style moderation and bodyguarding of sponsers.
