besides clearly being guys who have too much time on your hands, is there a benefit to continuing to post updates to the morbid state of the economy by posting the number of Stradales and Scuds on Ebay? I mean, don;t you have families who you could spend that time with, or cars to drive, or revenues to generate at your jobs?

    unreal, the wasted effort

Reflecting on the state of the market (cars, stocks, real estate, etc.) is a valid past time for some. If it bothers you, don't read it. Clearly, this would be a better choice than relentlessly trying to impress your beliefs on others. Considering that this thread has had 8786 views (and 152 replies), its a safe bet that someone finds this topic interesting.

    Tim,

As much as people want to post endless rants professing their wisdom on car values and their apparent happiness in the subject matter is as much as I have the right to complain about it. The only part that "bothers me" is that it seems that some post these EBay updates as if they are on a mission to emphasize the negative. While FChat is certainly a perfect forum for the melting pot of society, I would rather hope people would come on here to enjoy the hobby, not boast about value depreciation.

Guess that's why Baskin-Robbins has many flavors...

It's funny...but what most do not understand is that some of these cars are infact being sold not out of a need for cash..but since other cars have come down in price theses cars are being traded or sold to buy another car...Plus the 16M has many a scud owner moving there cars now...In fact I have yet to meet a single seller selling out of a need, but rather a disire to move money into another car that 2 years ago ware out of reach or a fear that Fcars will not come back, so they want somthing more rare...

Just a dealers view with talking with many many sellers that are looking to repalce there current car...

Surely you've got better things to do than post in this thread? Does your wife know what you are doing? Don't you have a job that needs your attention? Anyway, we are just posting here because we don't have the 500K it takes to buy an F40, so we are waiting for the Stradales to hit $100K.

I think a lot of people, me included, are closely tracking the downward trajectory of these cars for a lot of reasons. It could be to project what the value of thier Fcar may do or to determine how long they can afford one at what price. The people reading this thread and posting may just be big CS fans.

Don't you think it is a little presumptuous to judge their motivations and deem them useless and a waste of time? Like the man said, if you don't like the thread pass it by. We are all happy here. Maybe it's you who should move on.

Of course I said it in jest. The last thing I want to see is a further decline in Ferrari prices, as that would simply be an indicator that the whole world is continuing to TANK.
The current rate of asset destruction SUCKS, ask me how I know....

While true, I certainly can understand the sentiment of 'why all the negativity?' since this is becoming a reoccurring theme and general undercurrent here on f-chat (in regards to prices).
I tend to pass on these threads myself, but if the site has ever increasing numbers of these posts..... well, I can't imagine passing on f-chat as a whole!

    Just an observation.

The whole world is continuing to tank, and modern Ferraris will decline further. Hopefully everyone here who has a 360 appreciates the car and not just the faded window sticker.

It's just the reality right now. I would guess/hope most of us didn't buy these cars as investments anyway.

Ferraris are all too often emotional purchases. They now have become very expensive (asset value loss) emotional purchases and as prices continue to plummet, they become less "appreciated" by Joe Public as status symbols. It's a double whammy. This action of price degradation has hurt my business so its not like I don't have any skin in this game.

OTOH, I am very happy for those who have the money they wish to throw at the Ferrari marque now that it is more affordable. If you take the money out of the equation, you would expect FChat participants to be happy for these newcomers as well. You know, share the wealth STS.

    Hmmmmmmmmm........

I have quite a number of distressed Sellers who are having to dump their cars to cover margin calls, job displacement, tax bills....it depends on who you are dealing with, I don't doubt what you say one bit though.

Scott, I completely hear you on the asset depreciation thing. We are all facing it and it doesn't make anyone happy except for those who frequent FChat who are bottom of the market dwellers looking for the absolute bottom before they buy. usually, they fall into the category of never buying because they are always in search of the perfect deal. IN this market, you buy when you feel comfortable and you do whatever possible not to sell. I just gave up a 16M slot because of the bath I would have to take on my Scud. So, I decided to add another car to collection instead of replacing a car. I expect there will be many many bargains over the next year, so I hope everyone finds a way to make a nice acquisition....

That's a very limited and inexact view of the world, Joe.

By definition, yours, they're not Buyers so they have little influence on the market.

In any market, you buy the best car at the best price at the right time. If not, you're throwing money away, buying into a mechanical nightmare or both.

Did same thing. After having my first Ferrari, an '07 Coupe, for a year i really wanted to get a spider. The gap is huge. So huge that i bought a new 911 convertible instead for the same amount. (my new everyday driver). BTW, for you Ferrari AND Porsche lovers, the new PDK on the 911's is 'Light Years' better. In fact the whole car is more solid, more powerful. I'm really impressed and I've had several over the years.

Meanwhile, I'll enjoy my '07 Coupe as it is the most amazing piece of machinery I've ever owned.

great idea Gadget! I think it is the perfect time to ADD to the collection, not replace or just sell. Someone earlier mentioned that you always buy the best car you can for the money, otherwise you are buying someone else's nightmare (I think ExoticMarques said this). Of course I agree. My point is that "paying up" these days gets you alot more car for the buck! So, do you find alot of difference in the power delivery and responsiveness in the P vs F comparison? I have owned too many Porsches to speak of and I found they are great for technology and maintenance free driving but over the past decade, they have become a bit "mass produced"....anyhow, great to see you adding to the stable. Enjoy!
