    Hi Guys,
I'm trying to freshen up the 348's interior. I know a few of you are switching out your saddle interiors for black and I would be interested in buying them. I am looking for clean, undamaged or sun bleached sets at a decent price. I know this is a long shot, but I figured I ask. My car is a driver and not a contours competitor so I cannot justify a $2000.00 set of new carpets. I have tried dying my current set, but they are just noe going to look good and the color is too far gone. If anyone does know of a company producing sets at a reasonable price, please pass that along.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Surely they wouldnt charge you much to do that. :):)

    PAP,
As usual, a great idea. I will get to finding a local shop. I would prefer the carpets are molded, I don't know if that is possible without taking the car too them and it will be off the road for the next four months or so.

Bah, rip em out and take them to a good upholstorer mate. :):)

Im not sure if they can mold them to suit, but if you take your old carpets in they may be able to do so. :):)

That or just call around and see who does do it and get a quote from them Mike. ;);)

Before you rip-out your old carpets, don't give up so soon on the re-dying. The trick is to apply light coats and use a nylon bristle hair brush to work the dye into the carpet fibers and to keep them from matting. Use the brush in slow, wide circular motions after using the dye and then brush in straight lines after they are dry. Since it's a daily-drive I would bet you would be able to get it looking pretty decent with a little patience. If you don't want to do it, a lot of auto upholstery shops re-dye carpets and vinyl/leather.

I had my 348ts redone in black at an upholstery shop last year for around $1100 in Orange Ca.

I actually have the dye so maybe I'll give it another go. The problem I'm having is the sun-faded areas are not matching up to the normal color, although they do look better. Another issue is I am not sure want the stock color looked like exactly. Age and dirt have made the colors darken in some spots. I guess I am aiming to make it all look the same. If this doesn't work I will look into having it done by a company and see what they say. I've done a ton of work on cars before but I've never dyed carpets. I will use your advice and see if I get better results.

    Thanks,

    Mike
