Hello everyone. I'm having a big problem with my father's '67 330GTS 2+2 and I don't know what to do at all. Last week, he left with his girlfriend to go on vacation and I came over to watch over his house and cars. I was given specifc instructions not to even touch any of the cars, but being 24, I decided to play Ferris Bueller and take the Ferrari out last friday. On the way home, the engine started acting sluggish, it doesn't idle right, and it stalled several times. Dad never discussed how often he serviced the car with me and I don't have the kind of money for a proper mechanic to look at it, so I decided to pick up 12 spark plugs and change the oil to see if it would do anything at all. But, as I was draining the oil it started to look pretty black coming out, and after 20 minutes the last of it was coming out and it was pretty thick. I figured the engine had been gunked up, so I checked online and it recommended I flush the engine. Then, I took off the oil cap, stuck the hose inside and flushed it with water for about an hour to get all the grime out. I put the oil back in, and when I tried to start it the engine rumbled around for a few seconds and now it won't start at all. I need serious help with this, I only have less than two weeks until my dad gets back.

Forgot to ask, did you use an oil resistant hose in that washing? You may have to do this again....

I don't think you're going to get on the Jalopnik troll of the week feature with this weak effort. At least come up with a new way to sound retarded.

I hate to use internet vernacular, but in this case I think it sums it up quite nicely:

    FAIL

Make sure you only use genuine Italian air in the tires and try again.

They don't have "candid camera" on computers, so this might be real...I just can't get past why you would change the spark plugs and empty the oil versus towing it back to the garage. I mean, there are lots of people who lack common sense, but I'd figure if you knew how to change the plugs and empty the oil, you'd know better in this case.

I won't even comment on the above section...the "b.s.-o-meter" went off the chart with that part.

Good try but water does not dissolve oil. You should have used gasoline, but now that you have both oil and water in the sump you need to flush with acetone. Make sure you have fresh plugs and crank her over...

Your dad probably keeps a close watch on the odometer. When you get it running again, put the mileage back to where it was by jacking up the rear of the car on a spindly jack and running it in reverse for a couple hours with a broomstick holding down the throttle.

Agee B.S meter currently running at 105%..... Dad owns a 330 and does not read F-chat..... ;)

But I have seen some "Interesting" things though.

My neighbour came over one day (knowing I play with cars) and said that her car wont start, went and had a look sounded like a flat battery so hooked up a jump... no go. Thought it was probaly the starter motor so decided to push start it and get it to the auto elec's, still no go.
Noticed the motor was still warm so asked if it has been run today, yes was the answer just came home topped up the oil and now it wont go.
Topped up all right,....... right to the top of the rocker cover....pulled the dip stick out and it was like a geiser.....

I think this is BS but it would not surprise me if someone had done this in the past....
