Yes, Fred was the President of the FCA and traded the TRC for the GTO with my Dad.

Last thing I'll post is a link to my SCCA racing results page. You can see how these great
cars and drivers competed in "amateur" racing:

3765 is owned in Cincinnati by Jim Jaeger.
Not to be confused with Harry Yeaggy in Cincinnati who owns 0850 (Napolis can more properly tell you whether it's a 412P or a 330 P3/4).
Jaeger has also been the owner of Corvette Grand Sport (roadster) 002 for the last 17 years- (which, according to Napolis has been sold to RM), and which is being auctioned by RM in January.
Not to be confused with Yeaggy who is the owner of Corvette Grand Sport (roadster) 001.

0850 is clearly a 412P since it has a carburated engine. It also has, If I'm not mistaken, the P3's 2412mm wheelbase... It was built as a 412P (and was not a 1966 P3 transformed to 412P) in 1967 for Écurie Francorchamps...

You can see the owner in the following Hemmings article: http://www.hemmings.com/hsx/stories/2007/01/01/hmn_feature1.html.

Correct. 0850 and 0854 were originally built up as 412P's. Their chassis are P3. (2412MM) All of the P 3 chassis were built at the same time in 66 but 0850 and 0854 weren't built up into cars until 1967.

The first time I visited Shelton Ferrari in the middle 80's they had just received 3765 for restoration. During my frequent travels to Ft. Lauderdale I would see how the project was going and hearing how the potential value was climbing. The last time I saw it they had just finished it were getting ready to load it for transport to the FCA meet. A great car that was wonderfully restored.

Early to mid 1970's. Pictures were taken by my father who sold the Monza to Ken H.

    Dear Cliff,

Your father really had good taste in cars! Ken Hutchison also as he bought this Monza and quite some other interesting cars at that time. As I understood he was founder of the Ferrari Club in the US. That little car on the back of that pic is a 212 Export that he owned from 1964 to 1998!

Onno, answer is in Cliff's reply, although I estimated it earlier. The car is so easy to detect by its colour scheme, even in B&W.

    ciao

Excellent thread.. I love all the vintage pictures of these cars being used as cars back before the values became inflated to the point of the car now becoming a investiment and most likely never to be treated like they were back in the day..

Thanks for sharing the information and pictures..

    Mark,

I think you underestimate current owners. Many cars are pushed hard these days irrespective of value and risk.
This opens other discussions as should these cars pushed that hard........

    Ciao
