I get mine straight from Maranello, same stuff used at the factory, it is $100.00 a liter but I feel it is worth the expense to keep the car original.
I realize this is a joke, but I have a similar (and very true) story: I was in the throes of a pretty nasty divorce. My wife had hit 40 and was feeling her oats. A couple of years before she had gotten her pilot's license and I was always complaining about how much she spent on plane rentals, etc. Any way, she had dreams of becoming a commercial pilot, and having me pay for it. She got the bright idea to enroll in a 2-year Airplane Mechanic (A&P) course at the local JC to show her good intentions. The judge said "Sounds like a good plan - complete the A&P course. If you want to become a commercial pilot do it on your own nickel." One day I was at her (my former) house to pick up my sons and she was working on her car in the garage. I was very surprised and sarcastically asked her if she knew what she was doing. She called me a chauvinistic pig and told me that she was a highly trained mechanic with FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications. She said if she was certified to work on commercial jetliners she surely could change the oil in her car. I sat and watched as she poured a quart of 10W30 into the radiator. She was surprised it only took a quart. It was up to the filler neck, but nothing registered on the dipstick. I couldn't stop laughing. True story, I swear.
I heard if you get over two liters, there is a penalty tax....stay to the smaller sizes, unless in North America... just a FYI
UM!!!!! what airline does she work......I'm planning to fly to vegas soon and, well.......would like to plan ahead, ya' know will in order and such
I get around it by ordering, 2 liters for myself, two for my wife, two for my daughter, two for my son and two for my dog. 10 liters at a time and zero penalty
The event occurred over 20 years ago, and she is now retired, so I will defer on mentioning the airline except to say they had a major maintenance facility in SFO - do the math. She probably goes to Jiffy Lube these days. BTW, I kept the Ferrari, which I still have. Her car, new at the time of the divorce, died an premature inglorious death due to multiple major mechanical failures, probably due to superior maintenance.
I used to like United......one of my fathers-in-law [have to add them up] was a Pilot for them retiring in mid 70's... Sorry to hear of your ex's prblems , well, actually thinking more of your kids. r
Kids turned out fine. Older one (35) is a Structural Engineer and Architect, happily married and the father of my precious granddaughter. Younger one is 26 and followed in his mother's footsteps getting an A&P, except he really knows what he's doing. He's gainfully employed outside the airline industry as a mobile service technician working for the largest manufacturer of lift/bucket trucks and other telco/power company equipment. He visited me just last weekend and we spent 2 days working on the Ferrari - putting it back together after a belt change/valve adjust. He's trying the convince me to leave it to him in the will (or give it to him earlier), and I'm making sure he knows all the ins and outs. Both boys participated in lots of FCA events with me when I lived in the Bay Area. In fact the younger one last month visited a former President of the FCA and long time friend in Paso Robles, and in 2000 both boys and I spent several months in Africa visiting the same lady. I'm very proud of both boys and glad I made the effort to be very active in their lives. It was hard some times, but worth the effort. Just like owning an F-car!
You all are should be ashamed of yourselves! You were much too quick to condemn the original poster. Rather than cast stones, I called his bluff and tried flushing the 330. Guess what -- THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. It stumbled for a bit and now it no longer starts. In fact, it doesn't even turn over. It looks like he was right and all you doubters were wrong, wrong, wrong. I hope you sleep well tonight. Actually, I was happy just to see a 330 posting in the Tech section
