I planned on starting this thread with a self-spotting, but looking out the window that seems far fetched. That'd be more like a Rally Monte-Carlo reeenactment on the Col de Turini. :(

Sorry to be a lame first spring post due to no picture! Around 1:00 PM, a red F430 Spider going N/B Naperville at Blanchard. It sounded awesome and I would have shot around to try for a pic but I was talking with my Sgt.........he would have frowned on that!

FWIW, I had my 599 out last night, just as it was starting to snow.

Why is the Spring Spotters thread started when it's still winter?

Even though the snow is still flying...a red 911 GT3 with a full roll cage and belts (no kidding - this wasn't just a simple roll bar), exhaust, wheels, tires - probably a great track car - on Ogden and getting on RT 83 in Westmont on Saturday 2/28. The driver and his wife/girlfriend were all smiles. Oh, and me and my daughters in the Mondial on Sunday around Westmont/Hinsdale/Oakbrook. (One of them actually yelled at me about speeding! I tried to explain that 80's Ferrari's speedo's run about 7-10mph high but she wasn't buying it!) At least she understood (with a smile) how the old metric TRX's seem to oversteer under power on select corners. I blame it on her twin for constantly egging me on! ;)

I'll start off what will probably be a busy day for spotting. An orange murci roadster on Rt. 31 in Crystal Lake, a yellow Gallardo coupe on I-90 near Barrington, and a copper(?) Porsche 928S4 on I-355 near Downers Grove.

Spotted a smart downtown yesterday. Didn't think any of it until the folks around me all got excited about it. Then it hit me: Yes, they're everywhere in Europe, but still pretty rare here.

    Really? Well that's good news.

I want this car to succeed. It is the anti thesis to the SUV and you know what I think about those.

Has anyone seen/driven a smart car?-How about the smart cars on you tube with a Suzuki 1000cc or 1300cc engine?-That looks like it could be some serious fun on the weekends!!!

This is what you're talking about. A Smart car with a Hayabusa engine. Just turn the sound down a little when you watch........the soundtrack gave me a freakin headache!

Awesome stuff! That looks like more fun than I could ever have in my Ferrari.

Just wonder how warm it gets inside that cockpit. The drivers sure look like the fumes got to them: Non stop 360 degree circular powerslide around the tree. Just blew me away! Even the sound is as good as a Ferrari.

Speaking of: Did you see the video where the Smart leaves the 430 in the dust?

I don't. At first, I was really excited about them, but the car is just a piece of crap. My friend has one of these, the ride is as bumpy as hell, the inside is crammed and uncomfortable and the MPG is not nearly as high as what was originally expected. It's a shame, because I did want it to succeed.

13.29 vs 13.40? Since when is .11 sec "leaving a car in the dust???" :D:D

Btw do you like my new signature? :)

Without pics, I can easily say I saw just about anything. I always like to snap pics on my spottings, although my son didn't want me to go back and get a pic of the Maserati
