Enjoy your time there. Take pics of the cars in attendance and post them on FChat later. I'll want to see how many of the 10 cars are actually Italian. At least you won't have to battle crowds. I'll be going to a show that is put on by a car club. They probably care more about the success of the event. By the way dude, we've had enough of your "I am going to the Concorso, it is the best" crap. It is SO obvious that you are either part of the promotion team putting it on or have something to gain with its success. It has been a crap show for a few years and waning in popularity. Last year was the final straw for most. Yet, out of your 11 posts, every one is about the Concorso and 10 of them are exlamation point-ridden and shouting to the Heavens that the Concorso will be great this year and how excited you are. We get that you are going. We get that you're excited. How many posts are you going to post about that? There are a lot of other things one would have more fun doing on Friday than going to it........things like slamming your nuts in the door, falling down stairs, drinking sour milk, etc..
I had free tickets last year and, instead, went to get my exhaust issue cleaned up first at the local Monterey exhaust place. My car group friends, who went, called me from it 40 minutes after they got there and said not to bother coming, that they were leaving, and to meet them back in Carmel. So, yeah, I wouldn't. ;-)
so Bill, maybe finally you and I will be at the sameplace,I hope to see you there at www.montereybayconcours.com
still not saying where, and if only if Pacific Grove alows them to come in,tomorrow I heard they go in front of the city council, and if they get the ok,there will be two vunues you can go to,
Wow could you be any more rude! In the first place I am no DUDE! That just shows how young and imature you are. For one thing you must really feel insecure to have to attack someone just because they like CI. I never said I like last year just that I was looking forward to going. Oh and by the way my first post was just after my father died who always came on Ferrari chat. I am beginning to wonder why he did since some of you on here have about as much compassion as arsenic. As I had said in other posts I was looking forward to last year because of the planes. I thought hey this is different it might be cool. I was wrong OK I said so already. DO whatever the hell you want on that Friday. I thought the whole point of this chat was to express your enthusiasm for something you love but, it looks like you can just as long as people agree with you. You wonder why people only have a few posts on here. Well there is your reason!!!!! Maggie
Hey, your first post not telling us how great the Concorso is. Nice work!! Don't talk about me attacking. You're the one who threw the wet blanket on Mr. McMullen's post about his show by stating, "Sorry, but I can't get behind a guy that has just done a Car Club and never run an event. If CI is on grass...that is where I am going!" Here's to hoping your post count stops at 13.
Bill, So, let me get this straight. Because I said I can't get behind Kerry who owns the Maserati Club that has only done a car club and never an event and clearly stating if Concorso is on grass that I will be going that is what you call attacking? Are you Kerry? If I hurt your feelings because I am unsure about you putting on an event I do apologize. It was just my opionion. However, putting me down on my first couple of post is ridiculous. All my first post said was Count me in can't wait....which I already said why. My next 2 was if they were going to be on grass and after I called the company to find out some details. Oh and since you pointed out that my count is 13 and you WANT me to quit, you just gave me the inspiration not to. Thank you for that! Here is 15 and counting Maggie
we'll know after today if CI gets the ok in Pacific Grove to have it there in their town and on the golf course, and if this goes through, thats great we'll have two places to go
this is what their up against, the meeting isn't going to happen till 6pm tonite,CITY OF PACIFIC GROVE 300 Forest Avenue, Pacific Grove, California 93950 AGENDA REPORT TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF CITY COUNCIL FROM: COUNCIL MEMBER ALAN COHEN MEETING DATE: MARCH 4, 2009 SUBJECT: CONCEPTUAL APPROVAL OF ALLOWING AN EVENT ON THE PACIFIC GROVE GOLF COURSE; EXAMPLE: CONCORSO ITALIANO CEQA: THIS ACTIVITY IS EXEMPT UNDER CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT (CEQA) GUIDELINES, SECTION 15262, AS A PLANNING STUDY RECOMMENDATION The Council is asked to review and approve the concept of having an event on the Pacific Grove Golf Course such as the Concorso Italiano. If approved, staff would be directed to move forward with the next necessary preliminary steps to enable City consideration and approval of the Concorso Italiano, including analysis under CEQA as may be required and preparation of appropriate permit applications. DISCUSSION Last year the Concorso Italiano was in negotiation with the City of Pacific Grove to host the event at the Golf Course. Due to lack of time and guidelines, negotiations with the promoter were canceled. I am bringing this forward now as to avoid a repeat of that situation. I ask Council to direct staff to complete all necessary preliminary steps to enable City consideration and approval of the Concorso Italiano, including appropriate CEQA analysis and preparation of related permit applications. FISCAL IMPACT None. CEQA ANALYSIS This action is statutorily exempt from CEQA under section 1526 2 of the CEQA Guidelines, set forth in California Administrative Code, Title 14, Section 15000, et seq. This action would approve a planning study for possible future action. ATTACHMENTS None. RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED,
this is what I was talking about how can you say your having it at the golf course when their meeting tonite about it?????maybe they have a goodluck charm,I hope it works out for them because it sounds as though they been working hard to make it happen,so having black horse in the works all ready, how long was that in the works to get that ok??
Why all the anger in here? .. it's a freakin' car show, not WW III. That week on the Monterey Peninsula has become over-saturated with car s**t .. everyone should get in the way-back machine and return to the days of the Historics and Pebble Beach, period. When rooms were available at reasonable prices, parking in Carmel was available, and traffic jams were minor.
When men were men and sheep were nervous! I think Robbie is onto something here. There really are getting to be too many events that week. Everybody seems to be rushing around to get to every event. If Maserati is doing an event, why does anyone need CI? Two Italian events on the same day, after the Carmel street concours and before the Khaki's show? How much red can you take? Too much of a good thing can be too much.
Have you read the past threads? Wake up, your watching a shake out take place and most licklely only one event will survive, so no need to worry about seeing to much red. CI was "the event" of the Monterey weekend and with a lot of bad management the old CI owner has opened the door to these other have baked events like Khaki's(men's shorts?) and the Carmel gray hair event. Now CI is fighting to survive as a new group comes up to bat. I don't think there can be to many events for this weekend. Some would say that two weeks of historic racing is too much, or more than one static car show, or more than one auction. Obviously the Quail has found a good niche along with the Jet center and Gooding. If the show is done properly the weekend will only continue to grow.
In defense of Khaki's party, I wouldn't say there is anything "half baked" about it. Maybe "half price". It was most fun event I had been at in the past two years in Monterey. It is cheap (like $25 for food and the wine tasting), fun, well attended (not overly crowded though) and well-run. A hidden gem in my opinion. Great thing to do Saturday night. Here are pics from last year....... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In the red corner we have CI weighing in with its hard pounding concrete and enough crappy food to fill a barf bag. Trained by the best hucksters on the West Coast. Its knockout punch consists of broken promises, schlockly merchandise, and non-Italian makes. In the green corner we have La Dolce Vita tipping the scales with its smooth as silk green fairways and its back to basics approach. Its knock punch consists of a group of car guys, not hucksters, who appreciate Italian machinery and lifestyle. It's going to be one heck of a match! My money is on La Dolce Vita..TKO 2 minutes in the first round..
Kerry may not have an event under his belt, but he clearly stated that Jerry Kaye (who has been running Le Belle Macchine D'Italia for many years) is working with him to help organize the show. How does that qualify as no even experience? It seems to me that you're just looking for reasons to glorify CI and knock a competitor.
Too each their own, but from here it looks like you paid $25 dollars to stand in a parking lot and advertise for a local business. Image Unavailable, Please Login
They actually donate money to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Is it also advertising for their store? Of course. Just like the vendors that advertise at Pebble, Concorso, Quail, and every "private party" in downtown Carmel that weekend (the jewelry stores, etc.) that put on events. You let me know where you can go in Monterey Saturday night and eat food, drink wine, stare at everything from a 308 to an F40 to a Veyron for $25 and I'll go there instead........
