I don't recall what the manual says for the belt service. The Ferrari dealers say 3 years. Is this the accepted time interval, or is 5 years ok, given the low miles these are driven? what is the consensus? thanks
It has been discussed many times with no real answer. Alot of guys split the difference and go with 4 years...
My 348 manual says 52,500 miles between changes. I have changed belts at 5 year intervals since I have had the car (19+ years), and each time, the belt was perfect when examined. While there have been failures, I think that there is a fair amount of fear mongering and service generation.... especially from Ferrari.
My car was done in 2002 and again in 2006. I think 5 years is fine. The manual says 52,500 miles IIRC, and the factory keeps changing their recommendation. BT
The first owner of my car let it go 17 years and 23,000 miles. When I bought it, I had a 30K service done that would impress the Queen Mother. I drive my car like a granny, so I wouldn't have a problem with every 10 years.
I am the complete opposite. I change my belts and tensions every 3 weeks. I think to my self, why should i risk it
Do you have the part number for that Daniel? I looked on the rubber chicken page under the dead horse special.....
thought everyone knew that page: Right next to the yards of shoreline When you get another supply of Fallopian Tubes in, let me know, I've only got one set ... can never have too many fallopian tubes but don't mix them up.....trouble
no consensus ...... there are varying responses from "do it exactly as the factory currently recommends or I will kill you" ......... to ........ "never change it, because a friend of friend is still running the same belts since the car was new" ........... you already know both 'factory' intervals (old and new) ............ it is your car and you will live with the decision ......... lol ... ............ though since I am a gambler I change mine every 4 weeks ............... ........ lol ......... .......... I am still saving for one of those ..........
