Lewis Hamilton splashes out on £5m yacht

Posted: Mar 06, 2009 at 1029 hrs IST

: F1 champ Lewis Hamilton has bought a 90-ft yacht worth 5million pounds.

The 23-year-old star’s new boat named Sunseeker 90 has eight bedrooms including a master suite, VIP suite and two twin guest cabins.

It also has a luxury lounge, plasma TVs and hi-fi system.

He has also painted it silver and black like his McLaren racing car.

Hamilton plans to place his yacht in Monaco, where he can soak up the sun with *****cat Doll girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, 29.

It is being finished at Sunseeker’s yard in Portland, Dorset, before being transported to Monte Carlo.

“Lewis will be very impressed with it,” the Sun quoted a worker as saying.

say bye bye to the bankroll.

Estimates are that Hamilton will earn a billion dollars in his lifetime, with driver salary plus sponsorship fees.

The average person earns more like a couple million.

So, this would be like the average person buying a $10k boat. Not that big of a deal.

Besides... why shouldn't he? He's young. He's filthy rich. His girlfriend is gorgeous and better than any woman any of us could ever get. He is famous. The world is his oyster.

What, save the $$ for old age?

F-that! I'd be out spending it too.

So would any of us who were in our early 20's and suddenly a famous multi-millionaire.

    Good for him, IMO.

She is a pure trash are you kidding me!!! please I did better on my nights out single in NYC. Been in the yacht biz for a long time, one of the worst "yachts" you can buy. Dude are you kidding about his GF, that is funny. Also NO WAY he will make that kind of money - We will be lucky if they have F1 in 2 years.

Good lord - do we need the season to start or what? Every top driver (except Schumi) has bought a yacht in the past few years; why all the fuss over Hamitons???? Do you really think he woud have bought it if he couldn't afford it?
F*ck; if I had his income I would do the same thing -

Unreal the amount of press he generates - without trying.........

    Hamilton denies yacht purchase
No black-and-silver boat in the works...
No mooring awaits Hamilton in Monaco

British tabloid The Sun reported on Friday that 2008 F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton has purchased a luxury yacht sporting a black hull and silver top deck to match his McLaren racer's style.

According to the article, work is currently ongoing in order to customise the boat before it leaves its Dorset drydock in destination for the Monaco marina. The tabloid's website is also displaying pictures which it claims represent the yacht and its interior.

However, Hamilton has denied any such purchase took place.

The following statement has appeared on his website: "Contrary to unreliable reports, Lewis Hamilton would like to confirm that he has not bought a super yacht."

It doesn't surpise me, I nearly said something about this: “Lewis will be very impressed with it,” the Sun quoted a worker as saying!

It's just fodder for the brain dead..

    To each their own.

Maybe the inverse of what I said will put it in perspective.....

Nichole wouldn't be interested in dating any of us on here, she could do much better.

So while we may say "she's nasty, she's trashy", it's sort of like saying the Veyron is a hideous POS and you'd never be caught dead in one, then getting into your '89 Corolla and driving home.

Ok, ok... you win - your internet schwang is much bigger than Lewis'!

We all believe that you can pull much better chicks than a millionaire F1 driver and that his boat is a POS on top of that. Dude probably can't drive as well as you either

Nicole Scherzinger IMHO is smoking hot. Off the top of my head I couldn't think of any other driver GF/wife, that would trump her.

Those in disagreement might want to have their doctor check their pulse. They might not have one anymore...

    Right.

All I remember is that video clip of her at Interlagos in the garage jumping up and down when Hami won it. You know that funny one where somebody tips Massa's dead on the shoulder...

He's been paid a few million pounds and the world says he'll have a billion. Times like these are funny.

Let's see him try and get a good parking space for his "small" 90 footer when he's in Monaco.

Maybe based on a year ago, but not today.

We'll see, but one sure thing is, his net worth will be a lot larger than mine !

    How do you figure?

The current situation is temporary, and frankly, I bet top F1 drivers aren't going to see any impact at all... Alonso will always have Alonso-like talent. Hamilton will always have Hamilton-like talent. Since the teams know that driver counts for a whole lot (i.e. Lewis compared to Heiki, Alonso compared to Piquet), they will make driver salary a considerable portion of their entire budget. I doubt McLaren is going to ask Lewis to take a cut because of the economy...

Furthermore, I'll wager much of his income will come in the form of sponsorship deals. Schumi made hundreds of millions (I think I heard over $750 million) in F1. And there wasn't the money in F1 when he started that there is today... and I bet Schumi is still raking it in based on who he is. I'd guess Hamilton will be able to earn a LOT of money for maybe 10 years in F1, as well as maybe 20 years total in sponsorship... more if he ends up being a multi-WDC winner. Look at how Jackie Stewart does even today.

I think a billion in his lifetime is probably a pretty good estimate, regardless of the economics of today. My .02 anyway.

If Hami likes boats he should get the yacht. What do I care how he spends his money. I'm sure Kimi has about 5m pounds worth in vodka futures.

On Nicole, she's got a hot body but IMO not so great face. Maybe she has other special talents that Hami discovered. :)

The Sun said that Lewis was buying a boat. Lewis said that was not true. The Sun has a reputation for making stories up.
Not quite sure what Nicole has to do with this, but basically this is a total non-story.
